Rauenzahn or Cohen?

So I've acquired an ebony Titlist one piece cue, green label Hoppe... I'll be doing a basic steel joint conversion.

Q: Both these gentleman have great reputations, so which would you choose to the conversion, Jerry Rauenzahn or Eddie Cohen? I know Jerry's been around for a long time, and Eddie's reputation for quality is well regarded.
 
Both are talented cue-makers..........I sent you my thoughts by PM.......I hope others will follow suit and you can come back and let us know which way you went and why........It's not uncommon for a thread like this to start degrading due to the ardent feelings and comments from some Azers. I don't think you can go wrong with either of these great cue-makers you have in mind.

There are a lot of great cuemakers... I'm concentrating on these two gentleman. Any constructive info is greatly appreciated!
 
Have you called and talked to them? If not, I think that should be your next move. I have never heard a bad word about either one.

Like Larry, I've never heard a bad word about either one - tough choice. I might give the slight edge to Rauenzahn just due to his reputation for working on cues exactly like the one you have in hand.
 
Jerry would be my choice. If you decide to give him a call, call around noon. He normally will take calls between 12-1pm.

Ask him about his SS 1/2 joint.


Good Luck on whoever you choose to do the work, both are top notch.
 
Both do excellent work. From what I've seen, I would give a slight edge in the inlay/ringwork department to Cohen (if you're going to have any inlays done). Good luck, and I hope you post the results!

Looks like I'm leaning towards Jerry... he's done a lot of Titlists, many of them featured here. No inlays, just a solid old-school four pointer, GB style, for playing.

And both of these gentleman have great reputations regarding design, delivery, etc.

Lead time and price. If one guy was six months and one guy was two years that would make my decision pretty quick if I just wanted a basic conversion. Also if there is a major price difference as there sometimes is it would weigh in the decision.
 
Runner.....you really cannot go wrong with either cue-maker as I previously wrote to you........I find it amusing that when you ask a question.....a very straightforward one too akin to basically should you make a left turn or a right turn, i.e, Rauenzahn or Cohen.....it was just a A or B question......as simple as you could pose or phrase your question........and look what happens.........you get U-turn answers & answer C replies.....there's not going to be any delay with either cue-maker......the build time frame is what it is........Jerry is going to let veneers, if you wanted veneers, sit for several months....he isn't going to rush the build and he won't drag his feet either.......he is building me a 2nd cue right now and the first one turned out great......you'll be happy with either cue-maker in terms of quality but do keep in mind I am admirer of Jerry's workmanship.

I like Cohen. There are a lot of -R- cues out there. Nothing wrong with either, however.
 
I like Jerry's taper, and I like the workmanship & Hebrew lettering on Eddies cues.
It's a toss-up.
First have Eddie build the butt, and have Jerry build the shafts and the j/p's.

Now that that your cue builder is is settled, who is going to build your case & jump/break?
