Real King Cobra hits New Orleans

It's been a while since we met but I went back and played on the table you did for my buddy Ted and I must say it's absolutely perfect. We were bragging on you last night. Hope all is well.

I remember Ted's GC1 Pro8, I had to rebuild the rails to that table sitting in a gravel parking lot on the side of the road, running a generator for power...because I COULDN'T get my truck up to his house, it was hard enough WALKING up to his house:grin:

I played on the Corner Pocket's RKC-refurbished Diamond Wednesday morning. Very nice.

It is good that Glen takes so many pictures, because so much of what he does, so much of the attention to detail, is invisible in the finished table.

And the refinished oak looks great, too.

Beautiful work Glen, this is another one of your post that puts me in awe. How did you clean the glue off those slates?

With a scraper and a lot of razor blades:grin:

That's because, when a table is rebuilt and finished right...there shouldn't be anything wrong that someone can point out as in...hey, what's up with this...or that, which makes what I did to the table.....soon forgotten;)

Hi Glen! I worked a guy out on a GC3 in Carol Stream IL a couple nights ago. You did a fantastic job...as usual! It's funny how many tables I end up on that you have done for people all over the country!

Yes, but as soon as I get to the Diamond factory, I'm picking up a Diamond Pro 8 and taking off up to Canada to deliver it to one of my customers, it's long over due for delivery so I'm not taking on any other jobs until I get Ian his table first. What do you need done?

Glen

Hey Glen, I am gonna be in process of moving soon. I have a older Diamond Professional (approx. 15 years old) Gonna need to have it moved, new rails, cloth and whatever tuneup you might advise. This will all happen in the second week of April. (I will have about above a five day window)

Any chance you might be available?? Would love to have you do the set up. The billiard room will be in one large open room that has bedroom, small efficiency kitchen and bathroom. Like a studio apartment. Very practical for you to stay.

Thanks,
Jim Kissinger

Didn't we talk about your table before...you're not to far from the Diamond factory right?

Yes, I called and enquired. I just now am in position to get this done. I want it perfect and everybody says you are the best.

I live 2 hours from Louisville. 15 miles west of Evansville.

Thanks in advance..............

I can't guarantee you I'll be available the second week in April, as I'm not 100% sure what I'll be doing at that time...I just don't know at this moment, I still have a few jobs I've got to get cleared up before I can set dates again, but I'll see what I can do.

i am not an "ole timer" on this forum or the past of rec.sports [?] before, but i have been around for a few years as some might remember

and i remember in the past that RKC got a lot of flak and a lot of praise. but he pretty much stood alone with his way of doing things and it seemed to upset a bunch of you 'a lot' - despite many praising him. my thought: some people may hear well enough but really do not listen well / therefore: do not trust...

to me, RKC is tireless in his efforts, not just to make a table 'perfect' but even to stand against pretty strong criticism and disdain by some of you, and further, all the while trying to teach others in his profession all he knows

i will end with this point: i wish RKC or SD or others that worked with him did all of your tables, home or parlor. and if you doubt, ask the others that have worked with him their thoughts [except those who are in it just for the money and couldn't give a s*** anyway]

all the best,
smokey

No problem. I will be as flexible as possible. I may just go ahead and move the table myself and wait until you are available to finish it.

Let me know when you can. Should I go ahead and get the rails and cloth or do you keep all of it in stock?

Best,
JimmyK

Thank you smokey for the kind words, I just do what I do because I care about the tables I work on and those that own them. I wish I could spend a couple of months with everyone that works on pool tables, but I'm glad to have had the opportunity to work with the ones I have had the time to work with:D

I can pick it up from the Diamond factory, so it's no problem getting it.

I like working on pretty much any kind of quality built pool table, but my favorite is the Diamonds, the Professionals to be more direct, because I like to refinish them while I'm rebuilding them. It's like taking an F- student and turning them into an A- student. What I mean by that is yes, the play ability is for sure better on the Diamond's, but the LOOK is so much more improved overall, that it looks like a new table when it's finished. I even go so far as to install carpeting behind the leather drop pockets so you don't hardly hear a sound when a ball gets pocketed, and on this table I redyed the leather pocket liners to look like new as you can see in the pictures. It takes time to refinish a table like this one, stained twice, and 7 coats of tung oil for the finish. But, it's what I enjoy doing:D
