Anybody remember the other "Sponsors" Emerson, Party Poker??
There was more I think....

This thing reminds me of a restaurant going out of business.

Pay No Bills - Run up accounts everywhere, open new ones - collect as much as possible

then one day you go for lunch and the place is boarded up.

Come on Trudeau pay the Real Money you're bragging about. Ya right!!
At least pay Linda C.

ROFL, thanks for the nudge! It is not my $5K I am worried about. It is the future of pool and my husband's ability to be proud of what he does and that he is making a good living at it. Of course, the total owed to us for the rest of this year without us playing is over $22k with referrals. Now that makes a dent!

Emerson, Vonage, and Party Poker may have been one-time sponsorship deals just for that tournament, perhaps even just for testing purposes.

Testing purposes??? Now I can't stop laughing. Linda, you always seemed like an intelligent person but there must be something in the kool aid you are drinking from the IPT & KT. You are guessing as to what is going on & it all sounds ridiculious. Can you tell me where crop circles come from too? I will defend you though. You know why you are guessing? Because KT hasn't been straight with you in 4 months & you are very confused.

And IF you get paid when you arrive @the Chicago tournament, please do yourself a favor. Drive to whatever Chicago bank the checks were cut from & try to cash the check or at least call the bank to verify funds. And don't tell them you are Linda with a $5000 check, tell them you are Efren with a $500,000 check & see if it is any good.

Hocasino.com is a competitor for party poker I assume. That would explain their removal as a tour sponsor.

As for Emerson and Vonage, who knows, but sponsorships come and go all the time. Especially in new events.

It's quite possible that with the merger and recent disruptions that the sponsors were also left confused regarding the benefits they'd accrue in the immediate future.

No need to get nasty. From what I know about marketing, many times sponsors will take on one event to test their market in that event. Every ad letter you receive in the mail or web address that is linked to a main sales page, will be coded so that the advertiser knows where it comes from.

And don't worry, I would love to add a few zeros to the end of the $5000! (Hopefully, the zeros don't go in front! ;) )

"Sponsorships come and go."

Come on, there is a world of difference between a "sponsorship", and buying advertising time for one event.

KY (oops, KT), has just about everyone chasing shadows. He really is good!

Sorry, Linda if that came across nasty. Not my intention although I do think the test marketing was still funny. Most sponsors 'test' before they become a sponsor with market surveys etc, not after.

There should be no humiliation of the players who are involved in this unfortunate mess. Humiliation from the pool world is surely reserved for the IPT management if the mess doesn't get cleaned up in very short order.

All the best.

Emerson was only advertised as a lead sponsor for the IPT North American 8-Ball Championship in Las Vegas and then Vonage was only advertised as a "charter sponsor" of the IPT World Open 8-ball Championship in Reno. I didn't see anything where they were continuous sponsors of the IPT.

I was watching one of the IPT events on the Versus channel the other nite, and when it was coming on and them showing all of the players and everything there was one sceen of a suitcase full of money. Now, I may be wrong (if anyone has these matches taped please go back and check this for me), but the bills were $100 bills.....but they had Grant's picture on them. Isnt B. Franklin still on a $100 bill. This may fit in perfectly since the IPT is turning out to be an illusion or a sleight of hand trick anyway by KT.

As far as I know, C-notes have Benjamins on them and that hasn't changed...

This is effectively old news Southpaw.Irrespective of whether it was actually Grant,Franklin or Barney Rubble on the notes it has long ago been made crystal clear that both Efren and Thorsten knew full well that the suitcases of notes were strictly for show only and that they would not actually be paid in that way.Even IPT hasn't stooped to suggesting that there was ever any serious intention to actually pay them in that way so it is irrelevant whether the notes were real or otherwise.

Anyone who gave a nanosecond's credibility to the notion of those prize award charades actually constituting the winning payments being made to the champions merits a gentle slap on the side of the head with a wet fish to snap them back to reality:)

It was a harmless piece of razamatazz at both presentation ceremonies and served the purpose well:rolleyes:

If you read my post more carefully....Im just saying that the IPT is turning out to be somewhat of an illusion if the players are not gonna get paid for their efforts.

It was probably Renta-Cash anyway. Remember...this guy comes from the infomercial world where guys pimp real estate scams and other things from rented mansions with rented fancy cars in the background.
