Recommend a tip for a 11.75mm Z2 shaft

I will be getting a 11.75mm predator Z2 shaft and I was wondering if anyone can recommend a good tip for me. I am looking for a tip that will provide the most control, and allow me to get some extreme english on the ball (3 tips of english would be nice). I am not going to break with it, and I don't care about the longevity of the tip as I enjoy removing and installing new tips regularly when needed. I've been using soft mooris for a long time.

Kamui tips or go with a milk dud, or go with an elkmaster. I have an OB2 and it has the same tip the z2's have. An everest, and I think it can put quit a bit of english on the ball. I mean there are a ton of different tips you can choose from and what we recommend might not be the most suitable for you because we all play different. If the moori soft works for you, than go with it. I know for myself, a softer tip applies english and control a little better than a harder tip like a lepro. It is all personal preference really. Give the Kamui soft a try if you like layered tips. Also, welcome to the forum!

I"ve been using a Super Pro for a couple years. Completely satisfied.

you know from what i hear kamui's tend to be harder on the scale. meaning mediums play like hards. what do you think how does the kamui soft play compared to a new elkmaster (by new i mean not broken in)?

Personally I think milk dude is awfull for Z2. The best that I tried on Z2 are Kamui Ms ( a little bit firm , but hold chalk very well, great energy transfer , spin and all), and Wizard. You can get lucky to fish a good Le Pro from the box also.
With Z2 you don't need to be 3 tips outside, be cause it is already imparting more spin than a normal shaft, also you might miscue a lot due to the small diameter when you go to the limits of the cue ball.

I've used Everest, Kamui II Medium, Kamui Black M and Kamui Black MS. My favorite by far is the Kamui II Medium, FWIW.

I used to use softer tips, but as my stroke got better, Ive moved to hard tips. If you need a Z2 and soft tip to get english on the ball, I would say that you need to work on your stroke, not on your tip. I have a 314/2 with a factory everest on it, and it is nuts how much juice it puts on the ball. I have went back to the standard maple Scruggs shaft and I can still put some serious mojo on whitey, even with the hard Wizard tips I bought from Fast N Loose. I also have a Dudley on another shaft that plays well. just my opinion though.

why do you think milk duds are awful on a z2? I was considering putting on on my ob2, anyone else have opinions? although i don't really think i need more english than the everest, i was just impressed by the process and consistency

The standard tip, Everest, may be the best all around tip for the Z2. I have also used Snipers and have a Kamui Black soft on one shaft now. I moved back to the Everest because the Snipers were such a pain to install, but they play great. The jury is still out on the Black, seems very good, a little softer than the other two, but the Everest and Sniper are still in the case.

milk duds are not awful on Z shafts, I have one. It plays very well. Oh, and to the original poster, "extreme" spin has very little to do with the tip, it's the stroke. I've found that tip effects the way the hit "feels" and how the tip holds chalk more so than anything else.

Well said.

I am using an OB-1 now and love it. I didn't like the predator feel, felt to hollow. I don't know about all the LD debate but one thing about the OB-1 is that it is too easy to impart spin. I am working on my game where I hit center CB as much as possible. Now I don't like to use spin even though it seemed like religion to me for years. OTH, a tip that is too hard doesn't feel right to me either and I think the Kamui hard on mine are way to hard.....

This thread just made me realize I need to try a Kamui med..... thanks guys

I had an OB1 shaft too, but I just couldnt get used to that weird ferrule, so I had to use a predator. I liked the hit of the OB way better, but I just couldnt get over that ferrule. I agree that spinning the cue ball is way too easy with the LD shafts, although I still think I need that sometimes, lol. I may go back to the LD shaft, but for the time being, I am trying to get back in the swing with my maple shaft. The milk duds play great, and I have no idea why they would not play great on a Z2, other than maybe it could be rather hard to control the spin with the super LD shaft along with the benefits of a milk dud. who knows, lol.

im a moori fan. i have a sniper on one of my shaft which is ok, and i have been using it for the past 2 months. i put a shaft on that had a moori and i realized i definately like the mooris a little more. i do like the fact that snipers are almost maintenance free. i very rarely have to reshape it and never have to shave the mushroom.

The original Everest that came on my OB-2 delaminated on me, so I replaced it with one of Mueller's Dudleys this week. I have only played a few racks with it, but so far so good. I should have time to really break it in over the weekend, so I'll report back how it compares with the Everest on a OB-2.

The OEM Everest should work nicely; however try a Sniper. Same set-up Mike Davis uses (Z-2 and Sniper). He keeps the tip very low!

Sniper works for me. Good hit, nice feel, lots of control. But then I like my LePros too. Seems to me the softer tips work better on my Z2 because the low deflection allows for more offset as needed.

I would recommend leaving the imported 11.75mm shaft in the box & ordering a 12.75mm shaft from one of the reputable American makers on AZB.
