hi all,

i have a few cues in need of a wrap change. the usual cuemaker i go to is slightly busy at the moment so im thinking of sending them to someone else. any recommendations of cuemakers who can install seamless, even and perfect lizard and leather wraps at a reasonable price and quick turnaround time (1-2 months)? thanks.

Michael-thanks much, sent you an email ;)

Joey-though its been ages since i last contacted Dennis, he used to do wraps but its more of a leisure activity to him i guess..maybe its time to drop him a mail to see his nice collection again and play some :) i think Peter Bachelor does a great job here too, but i have no idea how to contact him.

i have 2 cues in the states, and 2 cues in singapore that will need a rewrap, so im evaluating all my options, including overseas.

Dennis Yeo does wraps there.

Torq, did Dennis quit ?

Joey,

Thanks for your recommendation! But just a small update from me.

I've stopped doing cue maintainence work since I took up bowling and now my lathe are spoilt. Stopped playing pool and buying/collecting cues for quite some time. I'm still lurking around here but will be out of the scene till I find my passion for pool return, which I don't when.:grin::grin:

Do I still have a order from you? ;);)

Torq,

If you're looking for seamless, perfect leather wraps. The best bet is to send it to cuemaker in US. Sad to say that I still yet to see any local people that able to do a perfect wrap, myself included. Even with a lathe, lots of practice still required! By the way, I should arrange to meet you up to look at your cue collections. I believe you have some hidden treasures escaping. Lol

Snookered <===== small collector

Dennis, i still think your wraps are(were) the best in SG LOL. Sure lets meetup soon, to be honest most of my stuff is not on hand, but ill be expecting some cues in soon (these 2 weeks). will be great to meetup with you and G. i will probabaly have more interesting stuff on hand come oct/nov, which i can bring if SCE is still on this year, to make amends for not being able to attend last year ;)

do you know Jive? not sure whether he will still be in SG then.. ill probably meetup with him next week. your collection of SWs are the bomb lol.

torq<====smaller collector than Snookered

There is no such thing as a "seamless, even and perfect lizard and leather wrap." All wraps have a seam. Smooth black leather can be installed with glue to fill in the seam so you can't see it. I have seen people hiding the seam with shoe polish paste. Perfect is a word I have never been able to describe any part of a cue with and feel I am being honest.

maybe i should rephrase it.. im looking for someone who can install a leather wrap which, when held, the seam cannot be felt (i.e. when you close your eyes and run your hand over the wrap, you cant ascertain the location of the seam). Also, the seam should not be too visible/obvious (i.e. at first glance you might not be able to find the seam). and of course, i wont want my cue damaged in the process of installing a wrap (which i have seen happen).

sounds more doable? ;)

Hi, I'm also looking for someone to put a ringtail lizard wrap on what is currently a wrap less sneaky. Recommendations and or pricing would be greatly appreciated! (I'm considering ordering the wrap from Castillo)

Now you have hundreds of cuemakers who can meet your needs.
But with Fish and Game going crazy with fines and such you need to find someone outside the USA to do it.

HQ,

China or Philippines could be a viable option. Heard of 39 from Taiwan? One of them opened a fairly well facilitated shop in Shanghai called Zen Shop. Heard they do good work will check them out soon. I send my cues to this other guy in Shanghai for now and he does pretty decent job, well priced.

Anyway we'll talk when we meet, I'm in Bangkok now and will be back next week. Good for 10th to 12th whichever is cool for ya. Let me know if you need anything.

Hope your baby's doing better!

Why no just do it yourself. Unique sells the Magic Wrap fixture with DVD that show how to use. Not very hard at all to use. By the time you do 4 or 5 wraps it would have paid for itself and that is doing you own cues. If you do other peoples you can make a few $$$. I have a DeAngelo but have heard the Magic Wrap is better. About the only thing I learned that was not on DeAngelo's DVD was to use a small mallet on the seam where ever it sticks up to match up.

Ryan-i sent you an email, thanks.

Chris, Mike-thanks for the advice. can i seek your help on something else? if, just if, i manage to somehow convince the wife that i can put a basic lathe in my house, what would you recommend i get? i only need to do a few things: change wraps, tips, ferrules, sand shafts, change tapers etc. all the basic repair stuff. Mike, then i can seek your advice on how not to destroy some of my cues :p the problem will be getting to ship it to Singapore!

Jive-sure, lets aim for 10th. my baby's doing well thanks, just recovered yesterday :)

Brickcues-thanks for the info, how much did it cost you?
