Referees needed for US Open in Atlantic City

I remember Grady telling a story about ‘Hippy Jimmy Reid’ putting a 5 ball on his bedroom dresser. Every time his girlfriend began to tell the difference between a 5 ball and an orange, it was time to get a new girlfriend!
That’s brilliant!!!

What adults are going to agree to sharing a hotel room with a stranger? Jesus, that's embarrassing.
I know they do, always found that odd. This is a job though. When I worked construction if they would have told me I had to share a room, much less with a fng, I would have laughed in their face. This ain't the cub scouts.
I agree. I just hosted a regional meeting for my team. I was notified at the 11th hour we needed to trim some of the expenditures due to an expense trimming policy that was released two weeks after I booked/scheduled the meeting. Senior Leadership proposed my team (14 direct reports) share a room. I cut expenses elsewhere. Grown adults should not be required to share a room.

Here's some more info that I'm passing on:

Additionally, some of you have asked what Matchroom is covering for your services, and below is what is covered:
  • Accommodations: covered but paired with another referee at host hotel.
  • Travel: not covered
  • Meals: $50 food credit to be redeemed onsite per event day worked.
  • Per diem: a rate of $150 for each event day worked.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------

For anyone who is seriously interested, here is the application form that needs to be done very soon:

Personally, I’m not interested but I see several deal breakers that should at least be negotiated:

Single room occupancy;
$100 food credit added to per diem, not redeemable only on site (who can eat in Atlantic City for $50 a day?!)
And a cap on hours mandated per day, fer starters.

Lou Figueroa
days of a free ride
are long over

Depending on where your flying from, an additional/minimum $1,200 just from CO including airport parking.
No direct flights, have to take a hopper out of Jersey, or do the dance with cabs/trains/etc.

Dealbreaker for sure.
To do it this late before the event occurs, very pool planning.
Air fare could of probably been at least $300 less.

For those that don't know. Last years play/knock out/over rounds started at 9 am, and some matches lasted till 11pm. In life yah get what yah pay for.

they are hoping for slaves to work for them for the glory. even with what they are seemingly offering if you look at it from a financial stand point it sucks badly. and work is a financial thing.
but i dont blame them if they can find workers. its capitalism and thats what makes the free world go round.
but there are people that for 200 bucks will do it that want to hang around pool and rub elbows with the pro's.

Well when the people who make money off Pool find no one wants to referee because of poor pay, aggravation, and hassle.

Then maybe the promoters will fingered out a way to attract referees.

NJ minimum wage is $13hr. Working from 9am to 11pm is 10.71

If you have to work from 9am to 11pm they just lost me and if you do retirees that way by the middle of that day, how good a job
do they expect them to do?

You've gotta rack/help a 4 table set up in a 32 table room, that's why they need 8 refs X 4 tables and Last yr there was one odd # 33 table for ?? Plus you have to room with someone you don't know is what they said. I think SOME......of the particulars are within thread #43.

I guess John Lehman has nothing to fear from me!

Imagine getting stuck with someone who has far less than acceptable bathroom habits. 🤢🤢 No thank you.
