Just got this back from Rick. The joint collars and buttcap are ivory. It has 3 long ebony points and 3 short colobolo. The original shafts are a Tiger and one Rick made and I had him match a Predator while redoing the buttsleeve.

Wow looks great man ...

Nice looking cue and sweet finishing. Is it the angle of the photo taking or is the cocobolo in the butt missing ??

He replaced the entire buttsleeve using only ebony instead of ebony with the cocobolo ring below the wrap (per my request). The cue was about half an inch short so the plan was just to lengthen it back to normal and replace the Hoppe ring. He thought adding the ringwork and ivory buttcap would be much better.

Don't get me wrong... it looked good before, but I personally think it looks way better now. The matching ringwork in the butt and losing the coco band made a simpler, better looking cue in my opinion. The ivory butt cap is a perfect contrast, very pleasing to the eye. Very nice.... and it's a Howard, so it plays better than it looks.:)

I actually dig this new look a whole lot more, i think it not only looks better it looks more expensive. A testament that less is more.
If it were my cue i'm put some exotic wrap on it, something black and textured. But that's just me, besides it already looks sweet now... :)

Yep, I think its much better also. The cocobolo band with the Hoppe ring kind of worked against each other I think. If I would have had this cue made originally, I would have had it wrapless. I have no intention on ever selling the cue and I actually thought about having him replace the handle with either ebony or cocobolo when he did the buttsleeve. Since the buttsleeve is ebony I probably would have went with some dark cocobolo.....
