This thread is prompted by the complaint thread about Ted Harris. Maybe we should mention a couple of professional cuemakers who do what they say when the say they'll do it. I'll mention a couple who's names will be recognized, I'm sure there are plenty more.

Mike Webb
Samsara
Skip Weston
Pat Diveney (sp?)

Who else you got? Not neccessarily somebody who does things in a hurry, just somebody who does it when they say they will.

What about are very own BHQ?

Brent may be a crotchety old man but he does good work, in good time, and at a good price

I just ordered a custom break cue from JW Petree today. I have heard nothing but nice things about him and the way he does business and fully expect a great transaction. Everything I have heard about him was the reason I called him and not someone else. I did my research before committing to anything.
Scott Whisler is another cuemaker I would buy from. I have met him and been to his shop and I would refer any body to him any day.

Some of the cuemakers that I have dealt with that delivered a quality product in a near promised time....... Joel Hercek, Bill Stroud, Paul Mottey, Mike Lambros, Ron Haley, Mike Bender, and Joe Gold.

Well, I'll go out on a limb here and mention our own Kevin Varney. Many people, including me, have posted many postives about dealing with Kevin. I also have a transaction with Kevin in the works as we speak and I am sure I'll be able to provide a positive report on that as well.

Great idea for a thread!
I'm sure as soon as I post this I'll think of many more.
But .........
Scott Sherbine seems to always deliver quality work on time.
J.W. Petree is punctual, easy to work with and does good work.
Paul Mottey gets high marks from me.
South West.......as busy as they are they have done many repairs and wraps while I waited in the shop.
Just to name a few.
Regards, Roger

I'd say Tim Scruggs, Bob Dzuricky, Bob Griffin, and from what I hear Eric Crisp.
Chad Carter most certainly is beyond top notch.

Also like Evan Clarke at schon, and have a cue going to Mike Webb for some work and have no fears

I'd like to mention Wes Hunter. I met him a pool tournament many years ago while he was promoting his cues ( 1994 Texas Open I think). I own one of his cues that was on the cover of American Cueist. I scratched the ferrule on one of my shafts and asked him if he could fix it. He obliged. He took the shaft back to New Mexico (I lived in San Antonio), put on a new ferrule, new tip, cleaned the shaft and mailed it back to me for free. This is the type of customer service all companies should strive for.

In 2004 I ordered a cue from Richard Black (no flames please) while I was deployed. I spoke with him several times and we decided on a great design. As always, I think of something a few days after the order and called him back. Luckily he hadn't started the cue yet. I asked him for a piece of birdseye maple that had alot of "eyes" on it. He searched his shop and gave me the best piece he had and it's a gorgous pice.

Last year I bought a Chad Carter cue from eBay. It was one of his earlier cues that he experimenting with finishes. I didn't like the finish that was on it and he read that post. He told me to mail the cue back as he had perfected his process. So he refinished and rewrapped the cue for me for free.

So, I've got to say that these three men have treated me very well.

FWIW,

Jim

There are several good names mentioned. I would like to repeat Bob Dzuricky of DZ cues. He is quite the gentleman, easy to communicate with, and has the highest standards.

There are a lot of reputable cuemakers out there, a lot of guys that do great work, but even so, I think Bob deserves a few more props than he seemingly gets.

I'm getting modifications done on my playing cue for free due to some serious customer service by Varney. Just a plug for his customer service :p

Just a very minor minor point.. I think it is Eric Crisp, as in C and not K.

Mike Webb, Skip Weston, and Mike Capone. I have dealt with these cuemakers successfully and wouldnt hesistate to do it again.

I also have to give due credit to Bob Dzuricky. He does very nice work, delivers when he says he will, and is very easy to deal with.

Good Rolls,

Ernie of ginacue is a good cue maker and stand behind his cues at all time.

One time I was in his shop with a friend, who was looking to have a leather wrap installed. When the cue was put on the lathe, something caught the butt sleeve and left a mark there. Ernie stopped the lathe right away, was very very embarassed, and offered to do the refinish and the leather wrap for free. It was actually partially our fault as we would not keep our mouth shut while he tried to do his job, and that was probably too disturbing for him.:) He even offered a discount on one of his cues because of that. He had over 200 cues on back ordered at the time, but he finished my friend's cue in less than a week and delivered it. Very good customer service.

Jim Stadum of Samsara is a good guy, we asked for one of his cues to be delivered to Vegas during the BCA, so a player can recieve it there. He delivered the cue right on the exact day he promised, and everything was just as promised.

I have to put a plug in for Andy Gilbert. I ordered a j/b from him to match a cue he made 2 years earlier. He got the cue to me about a month and a half earlier than expected and he modified the joint style for me at no additional charge. I had him make an extra shaft for my playing cue (which he had not seen or measured in 2 years)and when it arrived the diameter of the collar was just a bit off. He told me to ship it back and he would have it back to me in a week. In 8 days from the day I shipped the shaft to him it was corrected and back to me.

He is also a great guy to talk to and easy to work with on a cue design. I recommend him highly and he is going to be doing another cue for me in the next month or so. I have had a couple of not so great experiences with other cuemakers and it makes me appreciate his expertise and promptness even more. You can't go wrong with Mr. Gilbert.

Plus his cues play great!!

Omen

Pete Ohman of Omen cues.. I haven't received my cue yet.. but so far, he has been prompt and polite.. :)
