Reliable cuemakers

Oh ,hey I didn't take it that way. I know exactly what you mean.

Did you play the game??? I mean maybe I'm more aware of it since the Varny army attacked me for posting an honest opinion, but when I see Skins I know I'll read Josey and when I see Koop I know it'll be followed by Mike Webb, Liar Serdula is followed by Tim and Mike, or his new guy. I can go on, but I think you know the players.

Ain't that the truth Jim. You know I've no hesitation to spend money on cues, but if you haven't got it, you haven't got it.

"If I were a rich man ..."

But in a more serious response. Yes, we can only post concerning the ones we've dealt with. Though we could speculate based upon reputation, but the thread wasn't looking for that. Actually when you get older your list is smaller still, because you can only post about the ones you remember at the time you happen to be posting. :o

Yup, I played and there is no doubt you are correct. Hell, Ross accused me of trying sleep with Mike :D

I'll tell ya JimBo, you are usually dead on with your opinions, it's just a matter of people being able accept criticism or not and more times than not, they can't.

I'll come out and say I appreciate his opinion. Its just where he puts it that some don't like. I don't mind positive or negative remarks in their appropriate places. I think he has a right to say anything he wants anywhere on here but the BST, I find that disrespectful. Furthermore I hope he continues posting his opinion and I'll look for it in the future.

Moving on

Paul Dayton cues use catalyzed urethane for finish. Can someone give me the downlow on this compared to say ppg automotive clear. Pauls work looks good. I may give him a nod on something next year. Thanks for mentioning the name.

Perfect for me

Raven Cues
Mike Wagner is a real craftsman and makes a first rate cue. Excellent customer service.

Re: Paul Dayton - call him at 772-489-0577 He will go out of his way to help you. I have two exquisite cues of his and am working on my third. He is a perfectionist and truly cares about the playability of his cues as well as their beauty.

Paul Dayton, unless he has just recently changed, uses a U.V. cured finish with a 2-part automotive finish over it. Much easier to rub out.

Koop I never inteded it to come across as a bad thing, I just wish more people would see the irony in it. The fact is people like who they have delt with, everyone thinks they know the *best* guy or *nicest* when the reality is you only really know about your own experiences, good or bad. I have respect for people who have had a large cross section, rather then the people who have dealt with 4 or 5 guys. Sadly there isn't a large group of people here who have given some of the cream of the crop a try, either due to money issues or otherwise. I'm not trying to talk down about the newbies, but there really is another level if not 2 or 3.

Jim
The other related part to this is when a cue buyer has dealt with 5 cuemakers. Now he's got a funny choice: list all 5 and look like a clueless newb, list a couple and make it look like the others that he dealt with aren't worth a $hit, or list one and be subject to an onslaught of people who have had negative experiences with that one cuemaker.

Fred

Each person has different needs to be filled, for some people, it is important to have on time delivery, others need someone who would listen, then some want to be more involved, and some do not mind to wait as long as the cue is perfect...

Just spent an hour on the Raven website...wow!

I only have one experiance with a custom cue maker, but Bryan Mordt (BCM) was a pleasure to work with. I really liked the fact that he sent pictures and updates durring the production of my cue.

Great Service and Communication

I've had excellent service and communication with Sheldon Lebow, Paul Dayton, JW Petree, Mike Cochran and Chad McLennon.

Don't waste your breath, most of us have already formed an opinion about you and others from Corpis Christie (LOL).

..... keith josey.....
My vote goes to Keith Josey also. I ordered a new cue from Keith in 2002 and it was delivered to me faster than the original delivery date in flawless condition. You won't find a nicer guy to deal with than Keith!

I have liked:

I have had extremely positive dealings with the following (in no particular order):

Josey- wonderful service, great cues
Omen- great guy-
Nitti- pleasure to buy a cue from
Layani- exacting
Rick Howard- never afraid to call him-
Judd- great people
Varney- makes a great j/b
Bender- pleasure to work with

These are just people that I have bought from- I have emailed and corresponded with other cuemakers and they are been nothing but nice- Searing, Ed Young come to mind.

All Positive Experiences:
Judd Fuller
South West
Josey
Searing
Bobby Hunter
Ginacue
Abe Rich
Manzino
Barry Szamboti
