Relocating a Diamond

Is there anything special about relocating a Diamond ProAM table?

They guy that I am buying it from said to just come with 5 guys and a trailer and it should be easy I am removing from a single floor and putting in the same.

I am hesitate to do this with buddies as I do not want to do any damage to the frame.

I have used a pool table mechanic to move my current table and I called and he said he would move the Diamond for $200. My concern is that he has never worked on a Diamond table. He asked me to send him a link to the table so that he can read up before coming out. Is there anything "special" about moving a single slate Diamond table?

This guy is decent as he setup my current table and did a good job... but I currently have a Beach Co and not a Diamond.

Thoughts?
 
Agreed. Especially if it is a 9' table, you're going to need the cart to move that table. You'll also want someone who has moved them before to do it for you to prevent damage to the table by moving it incorrectly. They are obviously not your typical pool table, and they don't get moved like your typical pool table either.
 
Can you actually buy the cart to move a diamond OR are they included in the purchase of buying a diamond??????

I reached out to him and I agree that he is probably the most qualified in this area.

Unfortunetly he is also twice as expensive and I just cant bring myself to spend the extra cash.

There is a mechanic that I have used on 2 other occasions and while he is not experienced with Diamonds I think I am going to give him a shot.

Pay me now or pay me later? You may end up spending even more than what Donny quoted you when you pay your guy, then having to pay Donny to come fix it. Pay the expert. You'll be happier in the long run.

That's OK, just make sure your table mechanic is aware that the slate on that table is ONE piece, has to be taken apart if no dolly is used...and weighs 618lbs, then the table body weighs another 500lbs...and that the frame needs to be leveled first before the slate gets put back on, then frame leveled again after the slate is set back in place...then leveled again after the rails are bolted back in place...using the diamond leveling system....better yet, just ask him if he's worked on Diamonds before...the ones with the ONE piece slates in them;)
 
The table will last you a lifetime, my opinion is to just buy a new one, by the time you buy the used table and then pay to have it shipped and setup you really won't be saving much in the end.
