Replace linen with something sticky

I have an old Schon cue that I like very much and have played exclusively for years.
However after I recently started playing with a wrap-less cut that I got about 6-8 months ago. Turns out I really like the feel of a wrap-less cue, yes I was warned....... but I like my old Schon more as I've had it for so many years and really know it well, love the balance, width and hit in particular on it.
Is there anything that can be done to remove the linen and replace it with something that's equally sticky as the wrap-less cue?

Thanks for your help.

I would recommend a stack leather wrap from Tiger.

They can make it feel a little tacky.

Thanks for your suggestions.
I prefer to not use cork wrap or a wrap that goes over the linen because I love the width of the cue and it seems to me the cork would make it a bit wider.

Royce,
I liked the Tiger wrap.
I assume you're talking about this:

Is this something any cue maker can do or will I have to send it of to Tiger?

Thanks for the suggestions.

dont replace the wrap

send it to any compentent builder, he can sand the wrap area just deep enough for a clear coat that matches the butt and forearm.
the entire butt will be smooth like a wrapless cue, you will still have the cue you love, but it will have the feel of a wrapless.

Contact Ryan at Muellers (forum member RATCUES). He is one of the best at stacked leather wraps.

I believe there is a cue maker on here that puts a wood veneer in place of the wrap and then finishes it to make it a true wrap less cue. Cannot remember which cue maker did it but I thought that it was pretty slick.

You might do a search for veneer wraps and see what shows up.

Since you like a wrapless feel and like the looks of your cue, in the above post Chuck has given what I feel is the best advice. I play with a python wrapped cue and I sealed it with finish and it feels like a wrapless cue.

I avoid doing finish work on other brands of cues, so I am not interested in the job, but there are many on here that could do it. Just ask in advance if they have done it before.
