Respect for others

Why do some people not respect the time of others? I have answered a few requests from the WTB section of this forum. Days go by with no respose???? If you don't want to buy it, fine. Just reply and let me know. But to keep someone hanging, when you have been logged on, is at minimum inconsiderate.

I don't think asking a question is a commitment to a continues dialog. I am sure you answered their question and if they are still interested or have more questions they will get back to you. Actually I hate it when I open my box and it is full of needless emails that say nothing such as thanks.

I remember selling a high end Stroud Joss on ebay for a friend. It became almost a full time job answering questions like, "Is the cue really nice?" or "Nice cue, I wish I could afford it". I am not kidding, that cue must of generated over a 100 emails most of which were a waste of time asking questions that were already answered in the ad if they had read it.

Maybe they want to look at all offers before making a decision which might take days for enough people to see their thread and then decide what to buy? You are kind of sounding like a nagging gf here...

It is possible I m over reacting. I'm just saying is it so hard to say, " hey, thanks for taking your time to upload pics. Let me think about it and get back to you"?

This is what I got:
Buyer: Anyone have xyz cue for sale?

Me: Hi, Here is what I have at this price. What do you think?

Buyer: Please post some pics.

Me: Here are some pics. Please let me know what you decide.

Buyer: crickets, crickets...

I hear you and usually will reply that I got it at least, but I still think it's harmless if they don't reply. Some people don't rush purchases. I highly doubt they are not responding to you with the intent of being rude.

You are probably right. I am a little OCD and I wouldn't want to leave someone hanging. I guess my issue is that I would hate to sell the cue to someone else while he is still thinking about it or whatever.

I understand the thought behind your initial post. Don't worry about selling it before they make up their mind though, I've been waiting on a guy from Craigslist to come look at a car for almost 3 years- he said he was on the way!

CHILL, most of the people on AZB are good people, but like in life we tend to focus on the Negative Experiences.

Maybe we need blame the NEWS MEDIA for effecting our focus, as most DAY on BAD NEW IS COVERED in the News, and only on SLOW NEWS DAY with no BAD NEWS to cover, do we see Good NEWS STORIES.

I do understand the feeling, having provided some information or made an offer and nothing comes back. Just inconsiderate, but there's bunches of people like that, which doesn't make them bad people, just inconsiderate. What really pisses me off is the liars, cheats and thieves of the world. IMO, there's no bigger loser than a cheat, and they know it. That's why they cheat, because they're losers. And those that say if you're not cheating, you're not trying hard enough...bigger losers.

Bruce, speaking of negative....

How the "F" do you not misspell one word in this post, but you can't spell Grady's name correctly???

Someone mentioned to me that you purposely misspell in your posts and now I tend to agree with them.

Sorry to Hijack your thread OP.

And wtf does the media's decision on what is news have to do with anything?!!

An to OP:

Perhaps you'd feel better if instead of
'Here are some pics. Please let me know what you decide.'
you say 'Here are some pics. Please let me know if you need further.'

I've inquired about two cues recently. One seller said he'd knock $100 off the price as the cost of shipping to the UK is, apparently, $140. Obviously it's only around $40, so his 'generous offer' was not particularly generous.

The other was asking for $400 on here for a cue - he had the same cue on ebay for that amount, with a 'Make an Offer' amount, so I asked for his best price, with me covering his PP and shipping costs. Well, he knocks off $20, which is roughly the cost of US shipping, which was offered free anyway. He 'forgets' to knock off 10% min for 'Make Offer', the 10% ebay fees & 4% PayPal. His total concession: a calculated zero. Good luck there pal.

My point here is, I HATE it when sellers' assume I don't know the market and don't know the value or costs of things. Anyone taking the piss gets no response from me. I ended up buying a cue from a new seller who didn't bullshit or hard sell - just offered a price that was fair to both of us.

This is one of the issues on buying and selling. You can and should choose who you wish to deal with based on their behavior. If somebody doesn't seem respectful of your time, then you probably don't want to deal with them.

Also - all posters are not created equal. Here we have some great, established, trustworthy buyers and sellers, but we also have flakes and cons and jerks. Carefully choose who you deal with. Look at their longevity, past dealings, i trades, etc. When in doubt, send PM's to other members to check them out.

Most of my dealings with AZ members have been off of the boards, behind the scenes with reputable members, and they have gone very well.

Good luck!

To be fair...He used "effect" instead of "affect". :D
