Roger has made him several cues over the years, including Roger's first ever jump/break cue. He has REALLY old shaft wood and Mike loves the way they hit. However, Dave has made a couple cues for Mike as well and that is what he is currently using.
BTW, I beat Todd Marsh tonight at Dr. Cues! He broke and ran the first rack, didn't make anything on the break the next rack and I won the next 3 games with lots of safeties. I lost my 2nd match to someone and by the time I met Todd on the B side (He was up 2-0 on Raul and Raul won the next 3) it was for the money - 7/8th. There were 31 players tonight.
I won the next match after that and lost to Mike, so I got 5th. Mike got 3rd. Dick Trichler had to beat Robert Colby twice to win.
It's funny because we have been playing on bar boxes and 8 ball, so everything looked so far away, but I actually played ok. We are going to play big tables every night all week so we can be tuned up for this weekend. I am playing in the first regional tour stop of the season. It is great because there are already 44 women signed up. Among them, Kimberly Kirk and Kyoko Sone from Japan. Should be a fun time.
And Mike will be playing the 2 in 1 tournament up at Uncle Jack's. He had to sit out last month because he won both of them the month before.

I've been wanting to check that place out for a while. I see the B-and-below tournament, so I've been seriously thinking about trying it before my 9-ball game gets much better. I know my broke butt would just be donating if I tried to hang with that many big guns. Pat's on one of the plaques in my home bar along with umm.. Brad and Bill Gowan and some others. I guess they use to have some pretty serious action in Sewickley's, but now I may be the top dog for the regulars, so that isn't much.
I've tried the KC Midway tournament only a few times, but I'm still waiting for a chance to play Atwell!
Oh, and I'm looking forward to getting my butt kicked at the get-together in Bellingham (or somewhere up there)!

Tricky Dick is right. Not sure who played better, him or his father, Lake City Red. I sure miss him and Bud Berg. And Dick has held down a fulltime job, which makes it all the better. He has a tourist shop in Pike Place Market. I bought some pool bead jewelry from him there a while back.

There is going to be a big bar box tourney at Bill Mildenberger's place, The Nitehawk, in March. You should go to that. All the top Portlanders will be there, including Glenn, Brad Gowin, John Morabito, Pat Schumacher, and Kenny Dodd.
Maybe I will see you at the B tournament and at the Bellingham soiree.
