Retaining Ability from Performance Enhancing Drugs

Are we really debating the benefits of miss-using a prescription drug...to improve your bloody pool game?

I am interested because I know young people that have insecurities and see substances as a tool without considering long term effects. You can't help a person, if you don't understand the challenges of the problem.

They justify their use because of professionals at higher levels.

How young people access prescription substances is wildly creative, but it happens and prevention is better than a drive to the ER. It costs next to nothing to ask. But a trip to the ER is when its too late.

I wasn't sure how people on the forum considered substances. Maybe its the town I work in because substances are a problem for all generations.

I could see why you raised the question. Its a perfect world and I just happen to be from the wrong side of town.

I used to think that I was a better shot between beers 2 and 5. Turns out I was just getting warmed up and the beer only seemed like it was the reason. Of course after beer 5 everything started slipping downhill. Using a drug is just another variable to add to an already long list when shooting. IMO if you can do it with the drug, you can do it without.

BTW Not judging.

No crutches needed. Face everything straight up.

I think people should play how they feel comfortable. Some guys like to drink caffeine while playing, some like to drink beer, some might like Adderral, some might like weed. You can call it a crutch, but everyone likes different things. I'm not going to tell them to clean up their act and only play with a pure system.

--> likes beer.

Is coffee and weed on the same page. Anyway coffee, beer, Adderral, weed .... little coke little crank... what else. Maybe some barbs to take the pressure off.

Whatever floats your boat. 🤭

I played 10 hours on Saturday and I had 5 beers. Some will say drinking is bad or unhealthy, but in moderation, I'm fine with it.

Where does a person get Adderal? See a Doctor and tell him it’s for pool? Buy from a back alley, street corner, someone’s medicine cabinet... rob a drugstore? Just curious. Not so interesting thread. It’s a joke for some and a disaster for others. Is it ok to drive home with a boost. I guess it wears off after the last rack.

If it's not so interesting of a thread, then why are you spending time commenting on it? I certainly can do without your judgmental comments. I'm sure some others can as well.

Big problem with this is if you play without your performance wont be enhanced which leads to self doubt.
I researched Adderol and found no chemical or physical addiction. But as I stated a feeling of inadequacy leads to depression.
I have never used it but have played guys on it. They play way better. Next time playing on the level and they soon find out they are human after all.
If your weak enough to feel you need drugs, you already feel inferior

Not sure where you did your research but the only real difference between Meth and Adderall is Meth crosses the blood brain barrier and is much more potent. For whatever reason everyone freaks out about Meth but thinks its just peachy to give ****ing children Adderall....they even have gummy bears for kids as young as 4!!!!! Adderall can change bloodflow to extremities it gave an exgirlfriend of mine purple feet (renaulds syndrome) she took it for i think about ten years and i got her to stop (she didn't abuse the meds i just didn't think she needed them) and within a month or so the typical color of a human foot had returned to her lol.

Dont put your kids on the shit just find them more things to do....all the things...not all the pills. Pills are a crutch not a fix. Focus is a learned trait we are not born Master Jedi.

The new stuff: Vyvanse

Vyvanse is supposedly better than Adderall. These drug companies make some great products followed up by brilliant marketing campaigns.

Just one pro athlete getting caught has the same effect as millions of ads by a sports commercial. Amateurs and youth just crave it.

The next drug they need to develop should be one that helps weight loss. The female weight loss market is way more profitable than the male enhancement market.

Drugs are getting a bad rap due to all the investigations.

I wonder what the field would look like if they drug tested for international events such as world pool & mosconi. I would hope there wouldn't be any difference but I have my doubts. On second thought.....do they test already?

Most pool players are "addictive" personalities.
You almost have to be, to ever stick with the game, long enough to become proficient at it.
So, today you take 1 Adderall , get a positive reaction and decide that you can use it without too many consequences.
After all , it's just 1 ,right? Not every day, blah blah blah.
That's how almost every junkie in the world got started.
If it is like all the other drugs I ever heard of being used.
There will be a brief honeymoon, where everything seems golden, then it won't work one day, and you will take 2 , or 3 , then pretty soon you are eating pills like popcorn and think you are the greatest player that ever lived , yet you can't run a rack of 5 ball, because every table in town is trash.
Good luck, if it were me , I would flush any that's left and if "a friend" suggested it to me and provided it , I would stay as far away from them as possible.

This is exactly how it goes down! I've seen it too many times with people too close to me. Starts with adderall, then meth, then one day you look around and dont have shit!

Good luck on your quest for more focus, I just hope the quest doesn't lead you down the road I've witnessed in my personal life!

Seriously. Are the potential risks worth it?

I think not.

It's a game, people. Some balls and a stick.

I've been down that road and no it's not worth it. I was lucky. I got no kick out of coke. You name it, I've taken it. Not the hard stuff but almost everything else under the sun. Speed before and during work and downers at night and lots of Ginn. Walking the straight and narrow since 1975.

The weeds a lot better now.

A game where the best players in the country have the earning power of a lackluster underachieving engineer. There's more "not worth it" there than an entire Jaguar dealership.

If anything, besides practicing pool, would help you improve your pool focus long-term (and not just until the dose wears off) I would think it would be meditation. Learning calmness and indifference toward distractions would probably help most of us a lot.

Reminds me of a funny incident. Years ago at a not-to-be-named tournament a not-to-be-named future HOF'r was draggin ass after coming thru the loser's side. 'Bout a half hr. before the final someone slipped him a Desoxyn which is a pharm.-grade amphetamine. Needless to say he double-dipped his opponent to win. When match was over someone asked him what happened and he came back with " A little chemical warfare is all". Funny s^*t. Different times no doubt. He was FAR from the only player using it.

Are you referring to the user or yourself after the user stole everything from you? Cuz they'll do that ya know.
