First, the technical quality is excellent. The video and sound are the highest quality. Very clear.
Second, the teaching and explanation is outstanding. Robin breaks each aspect of the jump shot down into several individual sections. Each section clearly explanations that topic. She then puts it all together for a thorough lesson on jumping.

If you want to learn to jump this is the video. Great job Robin and the entire crew that worked on this project.

I have a question, does it teach you how to jump or does it teach you how make jump shots? Anyone can jump and make contact with a ball after a quick lesson. But actually pocketing the ball can be a lifelong journey and only the best can do it consistently.

Robin Dodson continues to give to the billiards Community

Every Pool store should have it on there shelves ! or DVD Video rental joint. Mark

First she teaches you how to get the cue ball over an obstructing ball. The then has a section on aiming the cue ball. Also there is a section on avoiding the squirt many of us would get after the cue ball lands.

I haven't seen the video but have heard Robin talking about it. I believe it also encompasses strategy, like when to jump vs. kick.

Honestly I can't believe how much info I have in my head on this shot!
First the mechanics...if you’re not set up right you’re not jumping.
As soon as I have that locked in we move on...(so what if you can jump but have no clue what to do next)...
I teach how to line up the shot....even more important...landing the cue ball...you have to give yourself the best chance of making the ball.
Trust me guys...I'm taking dead aim at the shot....I already know I'm jumpin'
Then I thought I don't want them to just jump everything...I want the player to use good judgment for the shot at hand....so I go into strategy.
Once I feel like I get that across, I tape into safety, kick jumps…well let’s just say I give all I got!
As for the technical my husband is amazing, he works a full time job came home and took classes on line every night…it is probably the hardest to believe, but he did the DVD by himself…and classes on line. He NAILED it, one thing I think everyone misses…there are 3 buttons on the right bottom. Once you watch the DVD clicking the play button.
You can go into the chapters…that will help go to the mechanic you need the most help on…it separates each part into a chapter for easy access. Each course is in a chapter.
Then the 3rd button, career highlights, I never collected anything in my life. Not even pictures of my career, but players sent me pictures and Pool and Billiard Magazine gave Mary Kenniston a bunch she sent them to us, (my husband, cleaned every picture and added it into a very cool reel) with Jerry McWorter’s music to enjoy listening as you see my ohhhhhhhhhhhhhhh so many hair-do’s.
I think it comes across I had fun, but I also know the jump shot (I don’t claim to be the best jumper, but I will say I can teach it) I know what you HAVE to see.
I show the Do’s and the Don’ts, you will say “right away” that’s what I’m doing wrong. I know this because I have taught the shot….the mistakes are pretty common.
Thanks for the nice words guys.

Robin

How much does it cost to order? I could really use something like this. I don't get to practice jump shots much because the owner of the pool hall doesn't like it.

use discount code "azbilliards" my website is above my picture.

I also give drills you can do at home....without a pool table...be sure to practice at home so when you do jump on a pool table you'll do fine.

Thank you...the crew....Roy Dodson :)

This is a great DVD and I strongly recommend it.

Also Robin is a pleasure to deal with.

Funny story, if Roy was reading this probably not so funny to him....we had a few "150 TAKES" Roy didn't think either of us was a pleasure to work with.... LOL
I'm NO actress for sure....but I wanted it to be fun....I hated school and learning something had to be fun...I shot for this in my video.
So when Roy would say....this is good...I wanted it to be great.....Take 150 on some...but I think I finally nailed it LOL
However that being said...Roy took days on the tecnical graphics...he wanted his part to be GREAT too....and He totally Nailed it!!!

I watched it last night and Robin does a really good job.
I guess the only question I have after watching the video is,
"What are you looking at when you pull the trigger?"

My one surprise is that at the end of the video you did not market your jump cue.
I have used a lot of different jump cues and I have to say that my Frogger jumps as good or better than any of the others I've owned.

Robin;

Great DVD, both technically and informative. Thank you for your,(and Rob's) effort. Unfortunately the student seldom isn't near as capable as the teacher. But we keep trying and there is improvement.

Doc's bought 2 cues and 3 tapes

Thanks Robin. stuff came fast. And keith sayes thanks for the autographed copy!! mark

"Mastering the Jump Shot" started out to promote the Frog and Tadpole...but after it started to develop...I told Roy no way should we limit this product. "Mastering the Jump Shot" can and is for every jump cue. I wanted the Market to stay wide open. All cue makers that have jump cues in their line....should order my DVD by the dozens. It will make for much happier customers no doubt! I know all jump cues work, personal preferance with my DVD is ok by me ;)

You find the piece of the object ball your jumping...remember to draw a line back from the ball you must hit through the object ball you are jumping.
The target is that piece of the ball, the follow-through is key for where you want to land the cue ball...the goal is to have enough follow-through to make the ball your shooting for.
