Last week I received Power One Pocket by Scott Frost. I figured that for some of you fence sitters I would write a little review.

Content Included in DVD:
1. Racking & Breaking
2. Returning the break
3. Taking Fouls
4. Running Balls
5. Putting Pressure on Your Opponent
6. The End Game
7. Power End Game Shots
+ Bonus Features

The content is GOLD. Really suited best for middle to intermediate level players. Scott has a nice but confident way about him. Natural in front of camera with a great voice. His instruction is clean and concise without being to wordy. A star is born.

The structure and video content is really well done. Good layout and clean. Now don’t get me wrong. This is not James Cameron doing Avatar2. It’s a little grainy but after all it’s an instructional video. Some guys blow way to much budget of sexy graphics and cool background music. Others could learn from the porn industry. It’s all about content…and this delivers. Besides I like the slightly grainy feel. Feels gritty. This is a pool hall damn it, not a cappuccino joint.

I learned two new shots which will pay me back the value of DVD in spades for years. Lenny should be commended on his work product and we should support him to ensure he comes back with follow up material.

Overall:
Instructional Content 9.5
Presentation 9.0
Audio/Video Quality 7.0
Value 9.0

Ok you cheap guys enjoying free feeds and complaining about the general state of pool. Reach into your hearts and jeans and ship it.

Nick, you should advertise for them, you sold me buddy.

Thanks for the thread

Power One Pocket

I agree very good content. I learned a few shots.
Scott Frost is to the point no BSin. Loved the road stories and woukd love to hear a few more. Not to mention quick shipping.
Thanks to Scott and Lenny good work. Now we just have to wait for POP2

I literally own every piece of one pocket and bank pool instructional material out there. Hands down this is the most useful instructional DVD for today's one pocket player.

A lot of hte other videos have great content but the content is a little dated and lacks modern info like shots that go only on diamond tables.

Great job guys on my new favorite video. I've already watched it four times.

thumbs up

I am out of work so had to borrow a copy form a friend.
Sorry Lenny

I must say the content was great, I learned alot and plan o implementing what I learned right away.

The only thing I would change is the cheesy lines that I know scott would never say.

Scott is very good at explaining what he is doing so everyone can understand.

I would recommend this DVD to anyone that wants to learn something.
Unless you live in CAli and I have to play you:grin:

Thanks for the reminder Nick, I forgot I didn't order it. Ya gotta figure just 1 shot can be worth way more than $40 and I'm sure we'll learn more than that! Way to Go Lenny & Scott, order placed.

Joe,
Scott shows some very effective methods of returning serve post opponent break. I tend to be to passive in these situations, choosing to bump balls while my opponent further squeezes the noose and drives more balls to his hole. In short order I'm forced to come with a big shot to clear his hole or take fouls.

The shots he shows seem more effective early on when your facing fewer balls and tilts the game back to your side. He shows how and what to do and I will incorporate them in my game immediately.

Nick
P.S. Joe I also have and think your racking secrets DVD is great.

Thanks for the review, Nick. One of my favorite lines is: "It's not 1965 anymore" or something to that affect. :).

Yeah I had coffee coming out of my nose on that one. I could just see Freddy the Beard cursing at the screen.

Thanks Nick for the review. I am glad you liked it and learned from it. I could have done a copy and paste so to speak video with the same old stuff that is basic one pocket but I wanted this to be different and fresh. I think we accomplished that mission and I think people got there monies worth and that is important to me. You can not please everyone though and I am sure some would have rather had the same old stuff in a bright lit cheesy setting.

I think the quality of the content is more important than the production but for our first time I think it came out well and I am satisfied with it. I am unsure if we will do a 2nd one but there is a good chance of it, there is still some things we have to share and perhaps some more road and shot stories. I think the road and shot stories were entertaining, somewhat comical also. I am already laying out the details for POP 2 so lets just see what Scott thinks about it when he gets back from Texas.

Thanks, glad you learned something and hope your game improves from it. Appreciate the kind words and support.

That was our goal to give you content that you would have to go back to time and time again as your game improves and you implement these shots and moves into your arsenal. I look at Winning One Pocket and SM&S, these are the bibles of one pocket and you have to go back to them everyone couple years as you get better and implement the shots. I hope this gets a reputation similar to those books as a must have for the one pocket player.

He said all those cheesy lines right from the hip, no scripts or suggestions from me, funny stuff. :grin-square:

I have always been amused by Scott and I want to learn more about one pocket so I'm sold.

I just ordered it. Excited to get it. I'm excited because I know I'm going to learn a lot. The last two instructional videos I bought I learned NOTHING. And they had me bored to tears.

Watching the highlight clip of power one pocket I can see there are a lot of cool shots I can learn and recreate. Plus Scott is entertaining and I like the sound of his voice. Ship it!
