Revo (love it but it hits awful)

I love my revo

but man does it have no hit at all. I play well with it (better than anything else I've tried)

I have heard it is the insert that is the issue from several people.

Just curious if anybody else agrees. Using the stock soft tip.

Hit is so subjective. It feels different yes, great to some, not so great to others. Personally, I love the hit but it was an acquired love. YMMV

It’s funny. I didn’t notice a hit difference at all. I was just enamored with how smooth it was. That is, until I played with it a while and used it in a very humid room and it felt as sticky as anything else. I cleaned it a couple times with alcohol but realized that only a glove makes me comfortable in humid environments. So I went back to always using a glove. Now there is nothing about the feel that stands out to me. I’m just back at the table living between the rails with the cue as an extension of my will like an appendage. I give the sensation of cueball contact about as much thought as I do clicking a pen. I’d notice if the feeling disappeared but take it for granted while there.

Respectfully, Matt
(I don’t take myself too seriously. I hope you can return the favor.)

I also have a Uniloc weight kit. I took my cue to the minimum weight for a while and now I have it at maximum. Those changes had a big impact on how the same cue felt.

I've only practiced with one, never played for any length of time, but it felt good to me. I think my expectations were that it would be really different, and I was surprised to how familiar it felt to play with it.

But really, if you play better with it, who cares how it hits or feels or gives feedback. That's all BS anyway.

I don't play with laminated or other 3rd party shafts. I play with the shafts my cuemaker made for the cue, but my opinion, it feels better then all the other predator shafts.

hit is subjective and is a very personal thing but I'm pretty sure if you had the time and the opportunity, try the shaft with a variety of butts and there'll be one that hits real good to you. Unfortunately, doesn't necessarily mean that you will play better with it than you do now. this applies to all shafts in general, not just carbon.

just like with women (or men for some of you) …. hit is subjective... some like …. some don't

I tried my son's and it felt ok to me, but my Tascarella
beats it hands down!

I understand what you mean as I did the same.

What I found to make the difference was not so much actual weight, but "where" the weight was.

Balance folks, it's "all" about the "balance".

A cue that is balanced to your preference will work with most any tip, woods etc....etc.

I forgot to mention, I had my roadline5 drilled out to make the depth of the weight bolt threads go within a couple inches forearm and rethreaded.

Made a HUGE difference in feel.

It turned a production cue into the FEEL of the best custom makers.....couple that with the UNMATCHED performance of the c.f. shaft and it makes a true:

MONSTER PLAYER!!! Not because the price tag or who made it but because it feels, hits and actually performs like a monster.

We can call it a monster because it is one....... not like most do LOLOLOL which is because they are trying to sell it.

You know what I'm talking about. Check out old for sale threads. Lol. Every other cue was a MONSTER. Lol ..... that performed like a mouse.

Try a different tip. A tip can dominate the feel of the hit.

My take is that the insert does little more than pull the halves together; it's all about the mating surface(s), not the insert.
By insert you can only be referring to the Uni-Loc; however, I also have the radial and I seriously doubt one would know or feel any difference.

I played with a soft tip for nearly a year, before I was given a Searing precision medium (in return for a tip install), and I have since went to a Searing hard tip...
I fairness, IMO the Searing hard is a Med/Hard.
Try bumping up the tip hardness, you will instantly feel that "hit" you are looking for...
Seriously, try a good medium tip, you will thank me later.
Obviously, I currently like the Searing, but I have also installed some $5 SIB med, $3 Ultra Skin med and hard, even cheaper tringles, and $20 Kamui Med...
If you were close, I would put one on for you and switch you back (free) if it didn't feel better.
