You are a madman then.
I played pool with my carom shaft for a couple minutes and found it pretty awful.
Maybe I'll try it again. I played carom with the pool shaft and is wasn't as bad as my regular pool cue.

Kiss that woman.Ok, I have to share this. There is a downside to buying a Rhino carbon shaft and that would be letting your wife try it.
Last night she told me the shaft was hers, and if I wanted another one, to order another. I actually was going to order another, but didn't mention that yet to her. Wasn't going to order the same thread size though as I have some other cues with a 3/8x10 thread size I would like to try it on.
What happened was I came down with covid for the first time on the weekend so we've been staying apart as much as we can and my wife has been practicing pool more than ever. Last night she told me she has been using the Rhino shaft for a few days and really likes it, and also plans on using it in league tonight. We got a sub for me tonight, and hopefully she changes her mind when she comes home and I get the shaft back.
She did the same thing with the first Schon cue I bought by the way. Tried it, and told me to buy another if I wanted one.
I do think it would be easy to smooth it out - the question is would it affect the structural integrity of the CF filaments? If it’s easy, why don’t they do it? I’m sure they have their competitors’ shafts on hand as benchmarks.
I believe we are talking about removing micro scratches, whether it is wood or CF. All cue wood is finished and the product I mentioned is not going to sand thru any sealer to the wood. It is designed to polish out micro scratches whether it is a finish or a raw material. A more powerful microscope would be helpful in discerning exactly what the difference is in the two shafts. Then we would have a better idea what the difference is.CF isn't workable like wood is. Smoothing the shaft by removing CF filaments from the surface is a big unknown (by me at least) as far as how it will affect its integrity. The manufacturers warn against it strongly and says it voids their warranty.
It'd be nice if some cuemakers or repair guys who have tried smoothing the surface of a CF shaft, or turning it down, would chime in with their experience.

Do you think it's possible that some of the Rhino shafts are sanded to get to size and some aren't?Wipe it down with a soft cloth/paper towel and 91%alc. Mine was dirty out of the box but 3-4 wipes and it was clean. Smoothest cue shaft i've ever used. Not 'noisy' like another poster said. I see zero need for ANY polishing/smoothing.
Their Process needs to be more consistent than that --Ya think! I vote for the 91% ALc and just use it.Do you think it's possible that some of the Rhino shafts are sanded to get to size and some aren't?
That may explain why some think they have texture, some don't and why some say they come clean and some don't.

Been playing with the new shaft after the Christmas weekend. Is a very nice shaft, especially for the sale price of $169 USD. I like the weight, the long pro taper, the fact that the joint pin hole was tapped long enough to use with my longer Carmeli 3/8x10 modified pin and easily adjusted to the 30" inch length. I think I ended up getting a soft tip or the medium tip is on the softer side. The tip could be tapered inward just a bit more, especially if it ever mushrooms out after some play. One thing I noticed after some play is that this shaft plays more like a maple shaft than any other carbon fiber shaft that I've played with, including the Revo, Cuetech, McDermott and an off-brand, which means it was much easier for me to adjust to this shaft as I usually do not like or play with low deflection shafts of wood or carbon fiber. I wonder if this is a carbon fiber cue with a maple core or is it foam filed with a similar / equivalent density of wood? Also, I think the shaft could have been packed a little bit better to prevent any shipping damage.
Also, I never received my free gift of an additional soft layered tip.
