Ok. Need some input on these two cue makers. opinions on which cue seems to be a better cue ? Have my eye on one of each of these cues and I'm looking to here from people that have them or have played with each.

Thanks
Jeff

cue

I've never played with a RH, but i had a Capone that hit as good as any cue i've ever owned.

mike lived about 20 mins north of me. i like his work.

they both make good cues but id stick with the capone

my prob with rh cues is his taper. i dont like the way he makes his cues. alot of ppl question the straightness of his cues bc they dont understand the construction.

this may cause a prob in the future. imho it looks bad to have ppl question the quality of your work.

again im not questioning rh's work. i think he make an excelent playing cue
however to the average person you might run into problems in resale

I'm using a Bluegrass now and I've tried a Capone before.
Personally I feel Richard Harris gives stiffer and more solid hit compared to Capone.
But in the end, it will come back to your personal preference.
I think you better try those cues from a friend before you buy it, so you can estimate which one that you prefer.

Just my $0.02. Hope this helps :)

I have not tried a capone but as dave mentioned the taper is a problem and the other thing is that the tip diameter you will not get a cue below 12.8mm if you are looking for one below that. But having said that his cues are really worth the money.... the shaft (finish) it self is worth the money.

Guys any idea what he coats them with.....

Thanks

His compound taper?
It might appear funny but he does that to keep the stiffness of his butts.

I have one of Each

I have a Capone and a Blugrass, both are forward balanced >19", both have flat face wood to wood joints. The Harris has a 3/8x11 brass pin and the capone has a SS radial pin. Although the shaft tapers will be different, they hit very similarly in my opinion. Capone cues are easier to find and more reasonably priced in general. Both are made very well, with a lot of attention to detail, fit and finish is good on both. Mike's points and veneers are the some of the best I have seen. I think Richard Harris's leather wraps do not have the quality or fit of the Capone wraps. PM me if you need more detailed information.

Dave, you have a problem with the Bluegrass taper?are you kidding me?he is one of the best cuemakers in history.i guess you also have a problem with Southwest and DPK b/c they make their butts the same way.i have owned both and to me there is no comparason.i would get a Bluegrass hands down.both Capones i had were pretty well made but they had low grade shaft wood.

i know that and you know that but someone that doesnt know that will have problems.

i abso dont thing someone else thoughts should change the way you create you art however he i do feel obligated to tell ppl this problem that might occur

Just put him on ignore list .. he's only guy in my ignore list as I couldn't deal with his numerous posts about nothing ... it seems I can't read a thread without his posts. Kind of remind me of people who will ante in every hand in poker.

Regarding Capone vs. Blue Grass cue, I've owned both. In my opinion, I think Blue Grass hits stiffer than Capone. I have ivory sleeved Capone that played good but I thought the hit was a bit soft. Blue Grass offers nice solid stiff hit, in my opinion. *BUT* Capone is much more affortable and perhaps even easier to find than Blue Grass cue.

just keep me on ignore ans stick to it. im not wasting my time on you

you compaired an ivory joint to a non ivory joint. no wonder it hits soft genuis. stick to your $10 homegames and leave the real poker to the pros!!!

All things being equal (embellishments, materials, price) the HARRIS (BLUEGRASS) is the cue to buy.....

The BG will be apprx. 50% more valuable and I prefer the playability VS a MC.
