I just received a phone call that Brian Tyler died about 45 minutes ago. Anyone who knew Brian knows what a great player and competitor he was.

My condolences to his Dad Billy, and the rest of the family.

sad news. I've known Brian since he was just a little kid back in the Bob's Golden Cue days 15 years ago. I've gone in with, and staked Brian a number of times. He was a friend and will be missed.
His father Billy is one of the best guys you'll ever meet and my sympathy goes out to him and the rest of Brian's family.

It was a sad situation at the tournament this weekend. Brian was in Asheville at the hospital and with it being so close to the tournament we were aware of how grave the situation was. A couple of people I knew went to see him Saturday. His Dad came over to the tourney Sat night for a few minutes and Sun for a little while too. He was on a lot of people's mind and we were all hoping for the best for him.

Brian was a good guy and pool player, he will be missed. My thoughts go out to Billy and the rest of the family.

Awww, jeez. I always considered Brian, and Billy for that matter, friends. This is unbelievably sad news. I knew that he had been doing poorly, but that wasn't anything new to Brian. 99.9% of players would have quit pool a long time ago, if they suffered like Brian did. To Billy, I am SO SORRY. Would any/all of my friends in North Georgia please convey my condolences to Billy. This is truly a sad day for pool.

Does anyone have pictures & stories of Brian? It would help us that didn't know him to learn a little bit about a fellow pool player that seemed to have a lot of friends.

Damn, Mike! The last I had heard {some time ago} was that he was getting better. I think Billy told me that, but it was a while ago. Could be a couple of years, now?
Another sad day, one of us so young, too.

damn i hate to hear this. brian was a great player and had the heart of a lion when he was in action. i guess he got those attributes from his dad, billy. my condolences go out to the enite tyler family.

sounds like an amazing person to know and be around. my condolences to those who knew him and my apologies to those of us who were not lucky enough to have met him.

Brian was a helluva player. He played Mark Gregory with the 7 ball about 10 years ago when he was 17 or 18 and that is when Mark was finishing high in the US Open/winning tourneys etc...just to give you an idea of how he played. I'd say he played pretty close to Brian White when he was hitting them good.

He went on the road a few times with Stevie also.

Sorry to hear the news. :( His name sounds familiar. What did he pass from? My condolences to his family and friends.

Here is a pic of Brian Tyler (on the left) from one of the Viking events. RIP brian.

Brian was raised around the Atlanta area and has been playing great pool since he was pretty young. I guess I met him and his dad 12 years ago and they are both super people and great players. What sucks even more is that I think he is 30 years old (give or take a year). Too young for what he had to go through.

It started with problems with his kidneys a few years back I think and he was on dialysis for a good while. He told me that he needed to slow down, but he just love pool so much that he couldn't stop the road player and tournament lifestyle. I know he was supposed to get a kidney transplant, but don't know if it ever occurred or not.

A few months ago, I heard that in addition, he had a heart attack (or heart problems) and that they were trying to stabilize him to do heart surgery. I think he had a second heart attack recently, but I'm not 100% sure about that.

What makes it worse is that Brian was so young and also his dad had a brain tumor or anurysm a couple of years ago, and it was touch and go with him for a while as well. During this ordeal they were both in great spirits and were alot of fun to be around at the tournaments around the Southeast.

He had many pool friends and will be missed.

I will miss his smile

I too met Brian and his dad Billy about 15 years ago at Bob`s golden cue in Cornelia Ga. Brian was young then probably 15 or 16 years old. At that age he was already playing well above average. He later on played pretty strong. What I will remember about Brian the most is that whenever he saw me he would always come directly to me, shake my hand and tell me it was good to see me and he would always have a big smile on his face. Brian will be missed by all who knew him. I offer my condolences to the family and especially to my good friend Billy :(

Very sad news indeed...and so very young. He was always a tough draw in any tournament. I never beat him. His Dad is a champion as well. If I'm not mistaken, I believe his Dad survived some sort of brain cancer several years back. Too much for one family. My prayers are with his family.

Brian was an extremely likable kid, always smiling even when you knew he wasn't feeling great. I really liked him a lot, and his dad is a good friend. If you knew Brian, then you couldn't help but like him also. He will be missed always. Thinking of you and the family Billy. --------Al Autrey

This is horrible news. Our thoughts and prayers go out to the entire Tyler family. They are all good people.
