Got some bad news for everyone going to Vegas in May for the BCA, the Splash Bar is no more...I'm sure everyone that went to the BCA in Vegas had some good times and memories at that bar, feel free to leave comments or pay your respects here...

Wow. The Splash bar had been there forever. It was where Scott Smith first introduced me to Keith McCready and where a lot of league teams explained to me how the loss was not their fault. It was here that I first learned that tables can apparently roll off for you and not the other guy.

I wonder what the plans are for that area? Perhaps they will move the casino back into the ballrooms area and remodel that casino. It is the oldest of the original gangster casinos that is still not refurbished. Dynamite and new brick could do the Riv a world of good.

A wrecking ball and new building would do the Riviera a lot of good:rolleyes: . But, I did have some good times at the splash bar......RIP

Ugh, don't say that.

Seriously, if that happens, my understanding is every Vegas pool event would be in jeopardy. I'm not sure they would be able to move the events to another casino. Even if they did, we'd likely not get the same deals.

I was at the Splash Bar when I witnessed Alex Pagulayan stumble up pretty drunk and tell Darren Appleton "You know you look like Agent Smith from the Matrix!?!?" Also that's where I met Daryl Peach, really fun guy to party with.

This is too bad. The Splash Bar was always a good meeting point when you were making plans with your friends.

While I do have some very good memories of first conversations with people {Jerry Forsyth for one} at the Splash Bar, The drinks were way over priced. The last couple of years, we'd walk to the gift shop and get a 6 pack for the same amount as 2 beers there. It was a great meeting place, and it will be missed by most of the pool players from all the leagues, not just BCA.. RIP my friend

Oh No

Splash was THE meeting place - easy to find - easy to see who was there - stay & party up there or gather together and take off from there - now what - who wants to hang around the lobby or back entrance waiting for the rest of your group to show up :yikes:

Yep, it was indeed the meeting place for the Riv. It was nice because it was right next to the poker area so if you were getting cold cards or just wanted to take a break you could hit the Splash Bar. Got my first straight flush on video poker at that bar. It was cool seeing all the champions hang out and bark at each other there too.

That is probably why they got rid of the Splash Bar. The poker machines at the bar were broken. I can't believe you actually hit a big hand on a bar poker machine. I thought they were put there to deposit money for your free drinks!

I Loved That Bar...... The Bartender With The Mustache, That Had Been There Since The Early 80's Was The Bomb. He Remembered Me And My Wife Every Year. Even Our Names And What We Drank.(funny Thing Is, I Can't Remember His Right Now)

Normally one might suggest that a thread about the closing of a bar is not pool related, but this is a clear exception. The splash bar at the Riviera was a focal point for pool players at the Riviera in Las Vegas, a place where I met and hung out with so many of my pool friends.

Thanks, splash bar, for the memories and for all the good times.

I remember 2 years ago. i was sitting across from Corey Duel. He walked up with this chick and was all flirty with her for like an hour or so. He got up to go to the bath room right there and she looked over to make sure he was gone and took off. He came back and sat there for like 10 minutes looking around and then took off. :p

I thought it was kinda funny

I remember taking one too many shots of tequila there and having to run into the bathroom behind the Splash Bar to throw up...I then returned to the bar to drink some more

I guess those crotchety old bar tenders finally ran everyone completely off. The location was great but that bar had the absolute worst service of any place I have ever been. Horrible.

Be interesting to see where everyone ends up going this year. The round bar near the front of the casino is the only place I can think of and that is way small compared to the Splash bar.

I guess they figure it is cheaper to have slot machines that no one plays in that space instead of a bar no one can get a drink at. Bummer.

This is from the other thread and my thoughts exactly.
