Robert Ross Photo of Keith McCready

Very cool photo JAM. Out of all my pool memorabilia my Keith Mcready photos are my favorite. When any pool player enters the room where my table is located (dining room)
That's the 1st thing they notice
Thanks Keith and JAM for the priceless pics

Thanks for all the very kind words. Hearing this warms my heart. Thank you. :)

That's a great photo of Keith! When's the book out?

Working on ironing the bureaucratic wrinkles, of which there are many. The hardest part, though, is over, thank goodness! Just have a few legalities to work out. ;)

Would you venture a guess on timing?

I learned a long time ago to never commit myself to a deadline unless I am confident I can meet it. Too many variables having to do with legal precautions and acquiring funds needed to complete the process.

I hear ya' and respect that. I'm sure initial sales from AZB forum members would be brisk.

BigTruck told me about a black-and-white photo he saw of Keith when he was younger and sent me the link. We don't have very many photos of Keith's early days, so this was a true treasure for me to find.

I ordered the photo from Robert Ross' website about a week ago ---> HERE

Well, it arrived today, and I am so pleased with the quality. Now I just have to find a place to hang it!

The photos of pool players on his website are really cool. Of course, this one is my fave. :lovies:

I tried to get Keith to do the same pose next to the photo. :grin-square:

Robert Ross sure has an eye for pool and action.

All his shots have a certain trademark. What you see when you are
observing great players. Quite different than what is typically presented in
pool magazines or books. I like his dominant use of blacks and whites.
Indoors leads to more contrast as does the game of pool.

Ross' work reminds me of B& W work by Ansel Adams with great natural
gigantic outdoor scenes and of B&W Yousef Karsh photographs of great or
famous persons.

Outstanding. A great artist.
Thanks for posting.

Now I am going to try to learn from his results.

Here is JAM's shot of Keith in black and white.

Jen - Of course I have no idea what the tenor of the book on Keith is like... but what stands out to me as a book title base on the one photograph of Keith is...

On Top of the World

I've watched a few youtube videos of Keith in his prime and that's the sense that I get out of his persona, the photograph and his life as I understand it.

Cheers, sister.

A (B) player

yeah B level, LOL you have no idea......

I remember when Robert came through the St.Louis area in the early to mid 80's. I was a little green, but I played good. Robert beat me in Granite City, Il. I didn't play as well as I did just a couple years afterward, He beat me on a barbox a couple times. It took a top player to come through there and win. I bet Robert remembers Chet Miller and Gabby Eddleman. Both of these guys worked at Granite City steel. 2 of the best part time players I have ever played. Some road players didn't like it. Robert doesn't even remember when he was a B player. He played top barbox speed for sure. Gary Lutman
