Rodney Morris Challenges the Top 25 European Players

I have a possible solution to the racking issue, 9 ball, and for pro pool in general.

Magic rack for all events, and to counter act the effectiveness of the break with it, all events will be played on diamond tables with 4 inch pockets. This way, both parties will have a fair rack every time, while the cream still rises. Yes, an emphasis will be placed on shot making, but top pros should be able to handle them, or they lose. Simple. No more shots being made after hitting a diamond away. I always shake my head when this happens at a high caliber event. You have to be the best, simple as that.

If you live in Philly is it really neutral though? I'm sure JJ doesn't care though long as the table is tight. Would like to see Eddie Aberham spot put_upor_shutup something and get them going too. Don't know what, but something.

9 7 prolly the game

if he needs 25 takers to do this bet, this is one of the most ridiculous and naive statements I've heard in a while: "It's just cool to see someone actually make a serous challenge like this these days"

I find it amusing when a broke person makes an imaginary bet like that. Delirious, like a '30K millionaire'. Three words for Rodney: Get. A. Job.

Developing a plan to market the game to the general public must be addressed

That's fine, but there's many more issued that need to be addressed. Doing the same type tournaments with tighter pockets will not get more people interested in the game. Developing a plan to market the game to the general public must be addressed first.

Thats not the idea in its entirety. This is related more to fair racking and neutralizing the ease of run outs with the magic rack (as well as tightening up the pro ranks). Theres more to my plan as far as mass appeal.

I believe if the game can't be commentated, it can't me mass marketed

The reason 'Two Shot Shoot Out' is so appealing to me is it gives qualified commentators some REALLY GOOD situations to talk about in ever game. Right now they just try to guess what shot the player is going to shoot every time and that's like someone trying to guess (out loud) what's going to happen in a movie you're trying to watch. After a while you have to turn down the volume to keep from being completely turned off to the movie/game.

I believe if the game can't be commentated, it can't me mass marketed, and this is a pretty good "acid test". One Foul and One Pocket can't be marketed to the general public and I really like One Pocket.....but it's too slow, especially if you have defensively motivated players because they don't shoot at their pocket enough to keep it interesting.

Think of football and baseball. People want scoring. Most find soccer boring because of low scoring. What if you went in the opposite direction? Use the magic rack but get rid of alternating breaks. Not saying let player A get to the table break and run 9 racks and player B loses. Maybe find a way they both have equal chances at the table. If there was a minimum race of 9 maybe someone could find a sponsor. Run 9 racks for $10,000. Don't think people want to tune in to watch the best players in the world missing shots because someone decided to make the pockets tight. Alternating break takes away from high runs. People may tune in for that.

Even seen a pro bowler bowl a 150 or less on national tv. I have. People want to see the 300. Keep that in mind. They want to see the best in the world do what they can't. If the game is an issue than try marketing the players. Where they are from, what cue they use, tip and hardness. Do you know how many people are interested in that info? I still think if people watching knew a player was from their state they might find someone to root for and follow. If you don't know the players than your just watching two people play pool even if it's at the highest level. Pretty sure programs are used in tournaments to decide matches and tables. If table 10 is the streaming table the program decides who shoots. SVB vs EARL could be playing at the same time but on another table. Just maybe adjust to what viewers may want to watch.

the first day....of the first tournament.

How about if a player runs 10 racks they get $1,000,000?

That would be outstanding....unless, of course someone did it on the first day....of the first tournament.

Sports fans like statistics, percentages, probability, and "odds on the money"

Erm, "soccer" is the biggest show on earth. Only a tiny insular minority find it boring.

There is a soccer BOOM in the Dallas/Ft Worth area. I see 4, sometimes 5 soccer fields next to each other and there's several indoor facilities as well.

Sports fans like statistics, percentages, probability, and "odds on the money" more than just scoring.

We have found a way to incorporate ALL these things into pool now.....it's just a matter of time before we showcase this "new age of pool production" to the general public. 'The Game will be their Teacher'

That's exciting, D. , I haven't been to Philly since we were playing the Fusco Brothers many years ago. Is Jimmy Fusco still there? I haven't seen him in many years.
