I disagree, his past is fair game, and part of the public record. If he was a child molester I would want to know if he was living in my neighborhood (even after he "did his time"). I would want to see how he did on the street for several years before pronouncing him squeaky clean. Any way, I think he himself discussed it in depth in one of the mags (but I wasn't interested enough in the story to remember it - I don't remember it being anything of earth shaking interest).Troy said:Announcers should NOT mention it.

It's in the past. He did his time. Leave him be.

I'll tell everybody here right now, the full story. One time and one time only! Without other's names because it doesn't matter who they are. Rodney and I, along with several others were indicted for "conspiracy to possess and distribute methamphetamines." Rodney was also charged with some form of tax evasion and I was charged with money laundering. The details of these charges are not important because Rodney and I both have done our time. We were indicted in several states and thats why it was a federal crime. The charges were ridiculous because of a select few in the case couldn't keep their mouths shut and even made it out to be more than what it was to save their own asses. I can only speak for myself here because I know what I did and I was guilty, I accepted responsibility, and I did my time. Neither of us were guilty of everything that we had to plead guilty to but that's the way this fine government works, guilty to one charge, guilty of all. I received 90 months and I believe Rodney got 60, which was then reduced on a technicality, but to what, I'm not sure. We saw each other 1 time after being sentenced in November 98 and that was on Con Air, which is the federal plane that transports inmates across country. He was going to Oregon, I was on my way to Phoenix. I spoke to Rodney several times after he was released and I was still in and he was struggling but very happy to be out. He was very supportive for me and told me to just keep my head up and my day will come. He has gone on to pick up his career where he left off, being able to travel, play tournaments and such, where as for me, I am stuck here in Arizona for 4 more years without permission to leave the state. So, there you have it, end of story.TATE said:Annoucers on TV refer to it. Posts allude to it. Since it's obviously no secret, can someone please give us some facts on what exactly happended. Rude Dog, sorry about you predictiment. If we all got caught for all the bull shit we did, we would all be in your shoes. I could have got 40 a few hundred times. Luckey I guess. I hope everything works out for both of you. This too will pass. If I am ever out your way, we will shoot some.Rude Dog said:I'll tell everybody here right now, the full story. Since you can't spell nit, maybe you don't know what it is. Rodney matches up tough, but bets it up pretty good. He has been through No. Calif. a few times and played top players for serious money when I was still around the Bay Area. I always thought a nit was someone who would not bet. Maybe you have a different idea what a nit is. JRHmarkcobb1972 said:The only thing i can see him getting sentenced for is being a knit
What has this got to do with pool?Gabber said:What has this got to do with pool?
As far as I am concerned, RM is a great player and conducts himself as a pro everytime I have seen him play. Give the guy a break.
This kind of trashing has no place on this board and the HousePro should delete it.

Earl Strickland's temper and general bad attitude has nothing to do with his game either. I'm sure you'll find that to be mentioned quite often in forums like these.Gabber said:BazookaJoe wrote,

RODNEY IS A POOL PLAYER. (Pool player - Pool forum) See the connection?"
No I dont.I dont see what his past prison record has anything to do with him AS a pool player.
Like it or not, the lives of famous people will always be interesting to us little people. How sad.
All I,m saying is, the guy has done his time and has paid his debt to society. Let him be a pool player and not an ex-con.
