Oh, man, that sounds just like him.

When we were at IPT in Vegas, I immediately cashed his IPT check with somebody on site for a 5 percent. I can't remember why I felt the need to do it right away, but I wanted that cash. I paid our hotel bill at the Venetian in cash to get rid of that expense down the road. I think Vincent from Seattle or Washington State is who offered to cash it for us for the 5-percent tax. It was worth it to me. :smile:

Anyway, after we get the cash from Vincent, Keith comes over to me and says, "Give Greg Sullivan $300." I said, "What? Why?" He said at the last Derby City Classic, which we both were at, he bit Greg for $300 to gamble, unbeknownst to me. :angry:

I spotted Greg sitting in the bleachers and handed him $300. He knew immediately what it was for, smiled, and thanked me

I try to keep our expenses within reason on each trip, to include gambling. Sometimes it's affordable, and sometimes gambling can hurt the budget. But when Keith wants to gamble, there's absolutely no stopping him. If I put my foot down, he walks away in pursuit of a backer. If Keith doesn't have the capital on him, he searches for a bite. If he can't bite anybody, he creates a backers committee. In another life, Keith might have made a good salesman!

I'll ask him about that hall encounter, Jay. I'm sure he'll remember it! :lmao:

Some might call it a windfall, serendipidity, fortuitious. Are there any word masters out there. What do you call it when you get paid back money from a debt that was owed but in your heart you never really expected to get paid back?

bonanza, godsend, stroke of (good) fortune, serendipitous find, boon, piece of (good) luck, jackpot, (lucky) strike

Of course, some might call it a "miracle." :thumbup:

Found money is money that is unexpected. Old debt that I never thought would be paid, royalties on a book or software written ten years ago. An award for some contest or recognition such as winning $100.00 submitted in an essay contest. Stuff like that. Couple of times I unexpectedly received an honorarium for a workshop or a talk. So found money is money that was not expected. It means all the more when the kids and my wife could share in the unexpected windfall.

When they are three years old there is nothing that makes a kid happier than to have a cookie in each hand. Later when they are 15 it is hard to generate that much joy. Found money can be any amount and one time it was over $1,000.00. Can you imagine the happiness when the kids learned how much they had to spend on junk?

Oh yeah, one time I won a $100.00 in a pool tournament and the kids promptly asked if it qualified as "found money." I had to agree that it was.

Yes, I'm sure. Gary had Johnnie Hart at all the tournaments on Pro-Am night. Also, remember, I lived in Binghamton and knew Pinkowski well. You heard wrong. I've only heard it called that once and that by a forum member who didn't know. Easy assumption to make, however.
Also, BC, the comic character, was on the program cover. The whole thing was set up to go along with the BC Open Golf Tournament.
The character also appeared on the golf tournament programs and pairing sheets. I have pairing sheet from, I think, the first year of the golf tournament, autographed by Palmer, Nicklause, and Bob Hope, given to me by a friend when I started collecting autographs in the early '90s.

Not the only story...

Well i respect your opinion and yo are certainly entitled,,,,but how could anyone give joey the 7? I only saw Whitey once though and Joey, countless times.
I did see Joey try and pawn a friends artificial leg. However upon hearing toe story of Whitey and his dog, I was unable to eat fro about 3 days and impotent for several weeks.

That is not the only doggie story. Then there was the old 70+ ball rack, clean-up lady at the Rack. The sell the two kids story. Joey Torma spent a little time at my joint the Four Bee's. Aside from the bite, he went basically unnoticed. Whitey also spent time at the Four Bee's -- with dogs. No doggie porn shows however.

From time to time, Hart would put in a christian religious theme to his strip. This is one of those times. The characters name is Peter. In the Bible, Peter walked on water to meet Jesus who also was walking on water. Peter was able to do so until his faith wavered, then he fell into the water.

Here, Peter walked on water until he realized he was, and then fell in. The rooster on the rock symbolizes the story in the Bible of Peter denying Jesus 3 times before the cock crowed. The loss of his faith for a little while.

The cave is Jesus' tomb. He sees it empty, and realizes that his faith in Jesus was not misplaced and rejoices.

Vince Pancho Carelli



Actually, Pancho's real,real name was Harvey Strauss. His various aliases incuded, Vince Furio, Vince Corelli, Vince Carelli, and a couple others. He was so good at the aliases that he did a year in a Florida jail as Vince Carelli!
He was from Brooklyn originally. When he was dying from diabetes he came to Chicago to live with me. He died of a heart attack just before a stress test procedure. I knew him for 40 years, and yes he bagged me up many times. We co owened a boiler room in Chicago. After about 20yrs. I found out his first name was really Harvey, and he was Jewish not Italian. The last name eluded me until I finally received confirmation from George Fels and Brooklyn Butch that it was Strauss.
His real name was one of the great secrets in sports. His wife Sandy, and his 3 kids didnt even know the real deal.
