Room 1 ft. Narrow for 8' Table. Is that to much?

Y'all just let me know when you want those Diamonds! LOL

The electric is in, it's insulated and the sheet rock is up. All that's left is tape and mud, paint, flooring, and bar furnature. I should be ready to get my table at the SBE in March, barring any unforseen delays.

I'm opting for the 7' Diamond. I'm in a similar situation, a 14'x24' garage is really only 13' wide interior dimensions. It's going to be a bit tight I think but that's the way it is.
Good luck with yours.

At least with a gagage you can recess that part of the wall the length of the table. About a 2' recess should be plenty.

I would go with the 7 ft table. Besides not having the room for the cue when it is a rail shot or close to it your stance will be crowded. I occassionally play at a friends house that has a short wall along a end rail. I have a hard time getting down into my shot because of this. As I bend over there is not enough room for the way that I spread my feet and it crowds my shots and I cannot get the proper line on the ball and have my normal stroke.

get 2 saw horses and a 4x8 sheet of plywood

.. put them in the space and find out what you think of it. remember that's only the playing surface... the actual table will be a bit bigger than that... think of the edge of the plywood as the edge of the cushion... not the edge of the table...

it is roughly the edge of the table for a 7 foot... with a cue a tape measure and a pencil you can figure out which one you want

My room is 14'2" wide and I have an 8-footer- it's just big enough to allow every shot without obstruction- if it was any smaller it would be a problem.

That is a really good idea. I am going to do that and see what it is like.

I appreciate all the feedback. I think the bottom line is the room is to small maybe even for a 7' table.

I will do some measuring. There is a wall I can remove that will give me another 12' more so it would be more like 24' by 17.5'. The problem is this is a basement and I have a couple of Lally columns in the wall. Depending on the placement of the columns I have no problems busting down the wall.

The current 12.5' by 17.5' room is finished with carpeting and suspended ceiling etc. The remainder of the basement is not so if I took down the wall I would have to refinish the extra area before moving in a table.

PegLeg, you got approval from the wifey, make it happen....DO NOT give up on the table, live the dream :D

A 7 footer will fit in their all day long.....I've heard great stories from people on AZ about how people in 3rd world countries play use cues with no tips, play on felt with holes, and play tables that have 20 year old rails.....and they become world beaters.....get your table, you will enjoy it for years to come.....don't miss out on wifey approval!!!!

I must be one of those spoiled Americans. I had a post out on the patio that was in the way by a 1/2" when QB stopped there and you had to shoot in a certain direction. The shot came up maybe once in five days. Of course all I did was unbolt the bottom of the post and smack it with a sledgehammer a few times. What could happen? The roof fall in? I was hoping. Then we would get our new enclosed room much faster;) . Johnnyt
