Room size advice for 1 table

I was wondering if I could fit a pool table in a room that is 14 ft long and 11 ft wide and if so what size pool table.

Thanks for any information

Typically you want at least 5 feet from every edge, so, you could easily say 10' plus each table dimension. For a 7', you'd want 17x13.5. An 8' would then 18x14 and of course a 9' would be 19x14.5. So, 14x11 means your cue would be hitting the wall and forcing you to jack up quite a bit whenever the CB is against the rail, so you'd need a short stick for those shots; as you're about a foot (or more) short on each side. It can totally work, but it'll be a little cramped in places.

You need a minimum of 10' more than the size of table plus room to sit/bar/anything else you want in room.

Probably not enough room

For a bar table (3.5 x 7) you would like a min. of 13 x 16. Otherwise, you'll be jacking up or using a shorty for a lot of shots. Hope this helps

You can fit any sized table made in a room that big, just don't expect to be able to play on it...no matter what size it is;)

14' x 11' doesn't seem like enough room for even a 7 foot table. Keep in mind that the 5' minimum rule of thumb is really from the cushion nose and not from the outside edge of the table. Even with that however, I don't think even a 7' table would fit. If I'm not mistaken the playing surface on a 7' table is 76" x 38'. Add 10 ' to that (5 on each side, or 120") means you need a room at least 196" x 158". In feet this is 16.4' x 13.2'.

It would be workable with a short stick for those obstructed shots, but you are pretty short of the minimum so those obstructed shots are likely to come up a little more often than you would probably like.

Bumper

only pool table that fits in that room & can be "played"

if you can call that playing pool . . . . .:frown:

Time to move !!

Trust me, it is not worth getting a pool table in a room which wasn't big enough

I had one in my apartment before i built and moved into my house (which has a custom made pool room)

it was horribly frustrating using short cues for way too many shots. You ruin a lot of runouts not having room to cue

It depends on what your objective is.

If you would like to be able to play the normal pool games (8-ball, 9-ball, 14.1, etc.), then that room is too small for any normal table.

If you are willing to use your table solely for practicing shots, doing certain drills, developing your stroke, etc., then you could place a table in a corner of the room against two walls and just use two sides of it. Even a 9-footer could be used in that manner, with full-sized cues and a full swing. [Note: if the table is against two walls, two pockets will be inaccessible unless you are very tall. So either you'd need a ball-return table or you'd need to cut out the bottom of those two pockets and channel the balls under the table to some place that is accessible.]

Explanation:

The columns contain the cue lengths. The standard length cue for pool is
57"; 60" cues are used for snooker and 48" for bumper pool.
The rows show table dimensions in feet (approximately) and then inches. OS
means "oversized", DIA - "in diameter". 10 foot and 12 foot tables are used
for snooker and 3-cushion billiards.
Depending on the desired table size, determine the minimum room dimensions
required when playing with a standard length cue. Shorter length cues can be
utilized should walls or other obstacles prevent the use of a standard
length cue.
