I did not buy the table. I listened to the salesman’s advice and then before doing anything, I did my own own independent research online, including asking others for their experience and advice first because of my inexperience. You should play some games of scrabble. Plenty of fun and will most likely help you learn to read.

Wasn't mine -- relatives. No. Here is the point I know and keep reading: do not do it. Do not rationalize yourself into something that can potentially ruin real and proper development. Reduced to basics: pool is about stroke. Stroke is not possible with short cues. You are deceiving yourself if you believe that you are playing pool. Wanting it so will never make it real.
 
Put me down for a 7’ as well. And the only 7’ I’d personally buy is either a Diamond (6k new) or a Valley commercial table (1k used). All in USD. Another option if you go the Valley route the have a 6’ version that might fit better still in your room. A lot of bars have this slightly smaller version.

Obviously don’t know your house layout. But is it really so difficult to just move or remove a wall?
Many houses would actually benefit from having a hall wall removed. Or say a wall between the LR & DR gone. Bigger spaces, more flexible living. If a pool table is a long term dream with expectations of serious use, make it work from the start.

Right. Another advantage is that many amateur tournaments are played on 7' footers. Almost no tournaments are played on an 8' footer.

To be fair though, there's nothing better than straight pool on a well tuned 8 footer. I wish I'd have had the room to go up to an 8, so I definitely feel for where the OP is coming from.

I agree that he could get a much better pool table for that kind of money, but if he's interested in buying high-end furniture that shows style and taste, it might be a good deal. Most pool tables actually look pretty bad as furniture.

Yes, a good quality table and aesthetics (which is subjective) were both important to our house. For the same money up here in Canada, it’s not even for the lowest entry level Olhausen, Brunswick, Plank and Hide etc
 
I do like the look of the table you listed a lot. And those corners will get you in the junk, but you will learn fast;) Do they have a 7’ version?

The advantage to a commercial bar box is they are built like tanks, and they have the 6’ version as well. But they are pretty ugly for sure.

this apparently doesn’t mean that you bought a table. Learn to write. And you’re not getting any help from me. Oh well.

Black cloth = black chalk = black hands = black shafts = black cue ball = good luck shooting a long tough cut shot on the 8-ball ! Many people don’t think of these things ahead of time before their decision!

Same type of brunswick dealer in my area, patios.com...weird that outdoor furniture and pool tables go together.

I took a peek at the pool tables and the tech details were disappointingly absent. Slate, cushions, frame construction, pockets, rail bolt type...nothing.

I didn't even consider the op would be looking at the aesthetic side.. I'd be happy if my table was in a concrete block room without windows or carpet. (Happier it is not)

I do believe that is the first time in my life I used the word "lovely".
