Royal Wedding Snub

I see that Beckman and his wife are invited to the Royal Wedding. Wonder why there aren't any snooker players invited? I read years ago that Steve Davis was the highest paid sports figure in the world plus snooker is really big in England.

Not that I really care about the night of the grand opening but there is a lot of interest.

Just supports the theory that pool doesn't get any respect.

Well still, Snooker is a highly or should be a highly respected gentleman's game in the UK. It is a snubb that at least Ronnie O or someone didn't get an invite.
Screw the little Prince if he ever needs lessons then.

Soon, he'll be like his father, chasing sheep around the castle grounds of Balmoral anyway.
At least, he has better taste in women than Charles as of late.
Lets call her: Camzilla.

Before anyone Reds me, I am a proud Brit and Scot by ancestry.

I wouldn't really worry about it mate, Prince William couldn't save pool either way. I like the fact that we're a sub culture

Can't I get away from this royal wedding crap anywhere?

Please let this thread die so I don't have to see this fu**ing title again!

(No disrespect intended towards the op).

Hmm, a couple of things wrong here.

Firstly, no-one here in the UK - and I really mean no-one - gives a damn about the royal wedding, or royalty in general. I bet the average american knows and cares more about it than the average brit. You want fanatical devotion to royalty? - go to thailand!

Secondly, snooker is a minority sport here, played and watched by very few. It is a dying game, like all cue sports. Some Premier League footballers earn £10m a year - far more than Steve Davis has ever earned.

Really? You should come over here to get away from it then - if I hadn't just seen it on the news, I wouldn't even know what day it's on. For 99% of the UK it's just a day off work, in return for a couple of poshos getting hitched. Sounds a fair deal to me...

I was going to go but I couldn't fit it into my schedule. ;)

Ummm, really? I work with several folks from our office in England, and they are counting down the days of this ridiculous wedding. Not only that, but everyone in Great Britain gets the day off !! So, please don't tell me that Americans care more about this drama wedding than the Brits. Yeah, I"m sure some lonely housewives iin the US are going to watch because it was their dream to marry a prince or something... And the Brits pay for this with their hard earned tax dollars !! yikes.

I called Jay up and asked him if he was gonna go. He said he hadn't been invited so I said screw that, I ain't going either, even though I had been invited. :)

What is snooker?

You'd get more action on this in the appropriate section.

Yes, really. I only ever remember we've even got a royal family is when i go abroad, and people quiz me on it - it's always an education!

They cost us something like 60p a year each - a dollar - and, considering the entertainment value they so consistently provide, are well worth it.

That doesn't surprise me. I don't think anyone over here gave a damn when Chelsea Clinton or Dubya's daughters got married, either.
