I heard it through the grapevine that Jones and Strickland will be the last two players on Team America this year.

I am surprised that Corey Deuel and Charlie Williams were not picked.

But, this is still just a rumour, nothing confirmed yet...

Jeremy Jones???

He's a good shooter I admit but what has he done this year to deserve a spot? and moreso Strickland................

Who are the rest?

Team Europe:
Ralf Souquet
Tony Drago
Niels Feijen
Mika Immonen
Mark Gray

Team USA:
Johnny Archer
Shane Van Boening
Rodney Morris
Earl Strickland
Jeremy Jones

Also made 3rd at the Predator 10 ball Championships just behind Drago and Bustamante

I smell another crunch of the US team. Earl has been working out, which means one of two things: 1) he's ready to play or 2) he's going to pop Tony Drago. With Niels about, I wouldn't think the latter was such a good idea.

Roy, I don't know about Jeremy but Earl is in for sure. I tried to confirm with JJ but got VM. I am looking forward to it.

you think earl can take drago? that guy's scary...kinda like out of the sopranos

Earl has said that he really enjoys playing with Jeremy and it's one of the best doubles teams he's ever played on. I hope JJ is on the team with him this year!

Well, I suppose the choice is tony drago or mickey tabb. And you know that she'll kick his A$$! All she has to do is give him a head butt and all of that hardened hair spray will knock him cold, while the shedding eye makeup blinds him for the rest of the event. Now there an idea. Celebrity death match in Malta. Where's the clay ????

I think Earl's the best fast shooter in pool. He's the only fast shooter I've seen whose stroke mechanics never seem to suffer. Other fast players occassionaly miss each shots or don't stroke good as a result of fast shooting, but I've never seen this happen with Earl.

Whoever is responsible for putting Earl on the team over Corey should be shot! How can anyone think that Earl gives the USA a better chance of winning? Sounds like a TV ploy for ratings. More people will watch to see if Earl embarasses himself and his country like he did last year!

Are you saying Early can't win it for the US Team? He's one of the best players around. I think it's a good choice.

A ploy for TV ratings??? That might make sense if, relatively speaking, anyone watched pool. The audience for the Mosconi Cup, with or without Earl, is a relative drop in the bucket. The only people really watching pool are mostly the diehard pool fans; those people are probably watching no matter who is playing. And anyone who is not a diehard pool fan, are generally NOT watching no matter who is playing.

The TV ratings theory doesn't hold any water.

As far as I' concerned, the TV ratings comment was not that far off the mark. Earle turns the whole thing into a soap opera. It may not be good for the game, but it's sure as hell fun to watch.

(I'm not saying it's a huge ratings jump...but it might contribute on a miniature scale)

Besides being a lot of fun to watch, Earl always plays good in the Mosconi Cup. There are so many talented players, it's pretty hard to put everybody on the roster who deserves one.

Seeing as how Earl has the best record of any competitor in the history of the Mosconi Cup, I think it's a legitimate decision to put him on the team.
