What a fantastic read this book was. I posted a few wks ago how much I enjoyed reading pool wars, which prompted me to buy this book in hopes of another good pool read.

Pool wars was written in a to the point manner without a lot of description in the writing style, but got the point across well and left me sad to turn the last page. Kid delicious, written by L .John Wertheim, is penned with a very contrasting writing style where he uses description to set up each scene of the story, and adjectives to describe the emotion and nature of each scenario. Anyone who has seen danny basavich play quickly ascertains what type of a character he is, and Wertheim does a great job of pulling you into his world, making for a great story. This book is a must read for anyone who enjoys pool. If you like pool and it's subcultures, do yourself a favor and get a copy of this book.

Yes - the Kid Delicious book was very entertaining and I couldn't put it down. Highly recommended.

My favorite pool book definitely. You can tell it is written by a professional writer. Very well written, and seems to be more chronological than the other books I have read. You really get a sense of emotion through the storytelling.

Road Player: The Danny Diliberto Story is a good read as well. I rank it about the same as Pool Wars. Rags To Rifleman is the next one I want to get.

Playing Off the Rail

Written by David McCumber, "Playing Off The Rail" is a great read about an author that takes a pool player on the road. I don't wanna spoil the book but it is basically his recorded journal as they traveled. The player is well known and from the west coast. The book was written in the early 90s which very well could be the last great decade for pool, imo. The title is a play on words as McCumber is a "rail bird" the entire trip and gives his detailed accounts. Packed with true events and lots of action.

A good read is "The Hustler", you might have heard of the movie with the same name.
Its about this cat named Fast Eddie.
The book is better than the movie.

When you find out where you can get a copy, please post. Isn't it out of print? Kind of like trying to find Winning One Pocket.

Thanks

In fact, I think you could scratch the 'kind of'. Both aree out there, but pricing is also 'out there'.

Another great book !!!

Hustler Days is another great book about pool written by R.A. Dyer. It's about Minnesota Fats, Wimpy Lassiter, Jersey Red and talks about Americas golden age of pool.
