Trick shot magic returned after a 2-year hiatus and I would have just as well they had left it dead.... How anyone can even stand to watch that is far beyond me... The best part is when a player gets ahead they shoot shots for points that have zero crowd value or skill requirement....

They need to lose a bunch of the gimmicks... And limit the number of strikes per ball to one unless it is classified in the masse genre...

Congrats to Andy Segal for winning something that means nothing for the 3rd time in a row.... Sorry for the bashing but if you see Mike Masse out somewhere ask him about the changes and why he no longer competes.... or if you see Florian ask him about his experience....

Still not sure why Stefano retired thought the way they had it stacked him and Andy could have won titles into their 70s.......

Rant off...

While some of the shots are impressive....I've never been a big fan of televised trick shooting. I'd rather, by a small margin, watch speed-pool...and I can barely stand that.

Hell.....a good 9-ball or 10-ball tournament is tough to fade on TV....at least here in America where the massive amount of editing just plain ruins the whole production.

I'm not a fan of the TV trick shots....their overly emoted exuberance gets old real quick.

I'd much rather watch something real like JB and Lou playing 1-hole....
...people trying their heart out is always interesting.

It kept Mike Massey into pool all these years, when he couldn't have made it on his tournament play. Nice guy, but I'm not into the trick shot stuff.

I'm with you on this one, the trick shot's years ago still required some stroke and a person could actually learn something on a number of shots. Now, it's gadget's, I to would rather watch a speed tournament, Really miss the wpba matches, they were at least entertaining.

I think the trick shots are for those that don't really play pool but can appreciate some of the difficult shots . Casual players maybe .

If you put it in perspective, Trick Shot Magic isn't all that bad, at least they don't
televise bumper pool, or those weekly APA matches

You're kidding, right???

You know good-and-well that APA league night would make for a GREAT reality show !!!

Heck....the one's I was involved in were VERY entertaining!!!

at least APA would be real pool matches, i cant believe people would even watch it with all the gadgets, i did enjoy watching Eva Mataya playing again, the races could have been longer tho,but that was real pool.

I think if Mike Massey hadn't poured all his dedication into trick shots he could have been one hell of a tournament player.

OK just bumper pool is worse.
I forgot that we have some babes with huge tits in our APA division

Oh yeah, I am with this.

Apa?

I once saw an APA match where a "1" beat an "8" in 9-ball, 14-61. The "1" was instructed by the coach to "Just hit every shot as hard as you can"...and the result was slopping in all 14 points for the win.

Theoretically, you can be a national champion in APA without ever having made a "called" shot in your life. I'd rather watch the players in my avatar than slop pool.

Regarding Mike Massey, he did win tournaments when he was young, but why compete against champions like Varner, Rempe, Sigel, Hall, Mizerak and Murphy when you can make a nice living doing trick shots...with no investment risked!

Waddiya mean APA matches aren't exciting?

It's real pool, not some prima donna showing how clever he is

That was BCA at Greenfield's><:grin-square:
It's Bluefield's now since they bought all new Diamonds.

I do agree that most league matches would be more fun to watch than Trick Shot Magic.
In APA however, we do get two 2's or a 2 vs. 3 in 8-ball, and it could easily take over an hour to play 3-games.

Massey and Pelinga both retired (at least temporarily) from competitive trickshots, for the the simple fact that they aren't about pool anymore. With all the gadget, and contraptions, and antics involved in some of the shots today, it has become a circus.

Both Stephano and Mike feel that trickshots should be about skill in real world pool. If it is not a shot that would have potential for real world, then they don't want to practice it, or do it in competition.

For instance, multiple jump cues in one shot
bouncing a ball in a cone
"juggling the ball around the table"

etc.

its not about pool anymore
