Sad

That was BCA at Greenfield's><:grin-square:
It's Bluefield's now since they bought all new Diamonds.

I do agree that most league matches would be more fun to watch than Trick Shot Magic.
In APA however, we do get two 2's or a 2 vs. 3 in 8-ball, and it could easily take over an hour to play 3-games.

I watched an APA 4 run the last five balls to win an 8-ball match.
He had no clue about pattern but he went to the well every shot.
I felt he showed as much heart as any champion.

I'd rather watch the 2s and 3s fight hard than another exhibition strut.

You haven't seen the 3's at the Holiday Bowl on Friday night.
There's not a lot of difference in the 2's, 3's, and 4's in our division.
For instance my girlfriend moves back & forth between a 2 and a 3 depending on who scratches on the 8-ball less.
From a technical standpoint she can't make a ball, and if it's under a little pressure she might miss the ball completely, even with ball n' hand.

You guys talk like you have never seen Florian "Venom" Kohler

Lol that guy would get slayed in a trickshot tournament. most of his wonderful video trickshots need at least a dozen attempts to hit one. The ones he shoots that don't need a dozen attempts are ridiculously easy enough for anyone else to make just as often as he does.

For some odd reason I got a "double-image" on my TV screen, so I saw the exact same thing -- once on the left half of the screen, and once on the right half. Of course, everything was half as thin as it would look normally.

I could only watch it for about 5 minutes.

I hate the shots where the setup 5 jump shots in a row where the just jump the blocking ball and send the "cue ball" straight into the pocket and then shoot the 5 blocking balls into the pocket...

Like they did something hard...

Yeah... Trick shot magic sucks ass for the average pool player to watch. But Im sure Joe Banger finds it kinda neat to watch with his kid.

You're kidding, right???

You know good-and-well that APA league night would make for a GREAT reality show !!!

Heck....the one's I was involved in were VERY entertaining!!!

Maniac

Truer words have never been spoken.

You get a few camera crews to follow around a bunch of APA teams, and that is money in the bank. It would be similar to a glorious combination of The Real Housewives of (insert any city), Lizard Lick Towing, Storage Wars, any just about any World Poker Tour televised event.

It would be AMAZING.

Miss the ball or the "shot" with BIH? You mean shot, right?
I am not proud of it but I missed the shot with BIH already, one of those shots where cue ball is a 1/4" away from object ball because you need to break up a cluster.

I'm talking about the whole ball, missing the shot doesn't bother me, we all miss.

Sounds like you were watching a "3d" channel

I watched it for 10 minutes.........

Trick shot magic returned after a 2-year hiatus and I would have just as well they had left it dead.... How anyone can even stand to watch that is far beyond me... The best part is when a player gets ahead they shoot shots for points that have zero crowd value or skill requirement....

They need to lose a bunch of the gimmicks... And limit the number of strikes per ball to one unless it is classified in the masse genre...

Congrats to Andy Segal for winning something that means nothing for the 3rd time in a row.... Sorry for the bashing but if you see Mike Masse out somewhere ask him about the changes and why he no longer competes.... or if you see Florian ask him about his experience....

Still not sure why Stefano retired thought the way they had it stacked him and Andy could have won titles into their 70s.......

Rant off...

Chris

It seemed kind of goofy. The 3 stick stuff If I want to be a trick shot guy I need to learn how to shoot with 5 cues at once.

Then I could always win.;)

I keep waiting for them to introduce flaming torches and sand dunes. I have never been a fan but the whole thing has become completely out of control. Way too much sizzle to steak ratio.

In subsequent years they can bring back Joe Rogan and they can market Fear Factor meets Ultimate Trick Shot Magic.

Trick Number 1.
I'm going to light my hair on fire while chewing a Scorpion and making a 8 cue Jump shot.

The whole thing has gotten out of control. I don't see MLB introducing flaming baseballs or NFL using footballs with razorblades. It's become Pool's Deathrace 2000.

backplaying...Guess you weren't there when Mike beat ALL the top pros to win the tournament in Huntsville decades ago! The man can play... The fact that he realized that there was far more $$$ in exhibitions than in tournament play or gambling (which he quit after finding religion), just makes him smart.

It kept Mike Massey into pool all these years, when he couldn't have made it on his tournament play. Nice guy, but I'm not into the trick shot stuff.

I'm talking about before there was money in trick shots other than putting on exhibitions. Mike had a good thing going, as he would get paid to put on a exhibition at about all the tournaments he played in. I was there in the 80's and know and played Mike many times. Mike like all the others, played good at times but no way could he have made it without the money from exhibitions, since he quit gambling around the late 70's or early 80's. Allen Hopkins won the big tournament in Huntsville, which is the only one I can remember being held there with all the top players. Huntsville was a big action town in the 70's. Mike played way below the top players.

I think if Mike Massey hadn't poured all his dedication into trick shots he could have been one hell of a tournament player.

Um, Mike was a hell of a tournament player and a good gambler that was tough to beat.

He still plays very strong when he wants to.

He just figured out that trick shots was a damn good way to have a steady income and be revered all over the world. Mike has probably been to more countries than any other pool player.

And a lot his shots were STROKE shots. That's why him and Florian and Semih Sayginer get along so well.

I'd like to see those three do a theater style show with mega big screens. I bet they could fill a lot of seats.

The Table Top Wizard Tour.

And for Chris, I agree, the point system whereby once ahead there is no way to catch up is ridiculous when they do things like shoot a stop shot for a point.
