I use "KLINGSPOR". It's as good or better than 3M & is a lot cheaper.
Klingspor 1-800-645-5555 ...JER

I use 2000g 3M from the local auto part store.. I proceed to drive my wife crazy for a couple hours cutting tiny squares from big sheets. She thinks I'm being obsessive/compulsive, I just think I'm being clever!

I cut my sandpaper, with a paper cutter. I use 1-1/2" x 9" strips...JER

Me too.. one of those with a razor blade in a slide rule.. I think it's meant for cropping photo paper or something lol, but it works great for making perfectly even squares of sandpaper!

What type?

Do you like the regular black wet/dry or what:)

ROFL! I formed a great image from that..

I just drop my stick on the concrete and roll it with my foot.. saves time!

Yellow 3M up to 800?
The rest, black face?

I have a source;) that I get 'salvage' wet dry from 3M for .15 a sheet. Usually it may have just a wrinkle or 2 in them, or sometimes an ink stain on the back. Cuts well, blows out with air, holds up great with wetsanding. I get it in the 320, 400, 600, 800 grits. Works for me

we use the Norton,it seems to cut alot better and clog up less and drag less that the 3M.after 800 we use the 3M and i forget what kind of 3000 i have, but i got it on Ebay.

Sandpaper

I buy boxes of wet/dry ( 400, 600, 800, 1200, 2000). There are 50 sheets to a box, these I cut up and get 12 pieces from each sheet, and I pay $10 a box. I also buy used rolls of 120 grit 100 ft long sanding belts that have been gently used but still got a lot of life in them, these I pay $1.00 each, and every once in a while they put some in that haven't been used. Nice full time flea market north of me.

Thanks

Thanks to everyone for your comments. If any one else has a preference please feel free to share you opinions.:)

I'm no cue maker but I do make custom furniture and I only use Klingspor with the green backing. I like it much better than the thicker type with the brown backing. Last a long time to as I use it over and over again after jsut knocking the dust off it. Great stuff!

I use these:

I use 320, 400, 600, 1000, 1200, 1500, 2000 & 2500

The reviews aren't the greatest on Amazon, but for the price, I can't complain. I only use one piece per cue and if I end up using a couple more, it's not a big deal. I can order on Amazon and they arrive the next day as they come from the same town I live in.

Those are very good prices. Do they have a name on them? How long does a piece wear compared to a name brand? Are the sanding grades similar to 3M or the other larger makers? With just a purchase of 150.00 you also get free shipping.

Dick

The boxes usually say USA Abrasives on them. I'm not sure how they compare as I haven't really tried anything else on cues and it's been a long time since I've used the other brands on anything else.
