Santa Monica Pool

HOB in Santa Monica is a good room, Toughest boxes I played on in a pool room.

I got in a beef there once cause I was layed out across 3 chairs because my back hurt so bad I couldnt stand it. But that got resolved. there are lots of nice guys in there and I like that room. I'm looser a few $$$'s in there. The tough tables i'm not used to has some to do with that, and one time I just played bad. I like it. Its a players room forsure, onepocket room.

I live about 20 mins from it, infact i'm in the mood to play there now, next time I go to LA I will be playing there regularly. I might be relocating in LA and if I do I will be a bit closer.

I have no beef with that room, except the time my back hurt, I wasnt being a bum, i was hurting so bad I couldnt sit in one chair or drive. Mike Massey straightened it out, but because Mike is my friend shouldnt have been the reason I could sit like I did, I'm a cripple sometimes(less now days)

he has me stuck playing 8 ball, I want to play him 9 ball or banks-but he wont. I'm gonna beat him playing 8 ball, I will beat him. Last time we played I threw away so many games, I was litterly sick, I didnt sleep that night. He is gonna get a dose of Fatboy someday. I like him he is a gentalman to play-he calls fouls on himself, dosent pull any moves, and so far has been good action. But he should be good action as he is beating me. I had lots of chances to win and didnt. I like playing him. I might make him play with no glasses next time:grin:

Welcome to the forum. :rotflmao1: All kidding aside Eric, I can see you with your back problems there - isn't the floor sort of uneven in that room?

HOB Santa Monica has been there for a long time. When I was a kid back in the 60's my family would come out from Chicago in the summer to visit my grandparents who lived in L.A. At the time anyway, minors were not allowed in pool halls within the City of Los Angeles but I found out kids were OK in Santa Monica. I used to take the buses every day from West Hollywood to "19th St. Billiards" stay all day and ride the buses home at dinner time. There were a lot of kids/teens there in the summer back then. Fond memories.

Glad to see you playing down there. Last time I went in there, John Henderson played some guy named Producer Phil and John ended up down a few games, I was side betting and lost myself. I do remember that the tables are nice old Brunswicks with tight pockets.

Awesome room. Lot to do if you want to eat, I remember walking across the street to get some great Thai food. Good luck down there, I look forward to going there again myself.

Thank you, but you may mean my evil twin, Scrzbill. He looks almost exactly like me, but not quite as handsome. You can bring me one of your mugs for Mrs Kentucky. I'll be there again today. Since I got no action yesterday, I had to stop at Hard Times on the way home, so I am a little lighter.

Lots of 9 ball action. You just gotta ask. Rich, Big Phil, Greg H, Jenny Lee, etc have been known to play some sporty 9 ball. Tall Wayne, a 1 hole specialist, has been known to take down a 9 ball tournament or two.
Theres also interest in last pocket 8 ball. Bunch of straight pool players as well.
Theres also been some big $ Billiard games lately.
You just gotta ask.
One pocket being the rolls royce of pool (IMO) naturally your better players gravitate towards it. And the lesser players emulate.
But there are a bunch of gamers in HOB that will play any game you can think of on the green felt.
As for Danny he is a gamer and will play anybody that walks through our portals. Hes kinda like that first storm wall that protects the fort from threat. After him dont expect anything easy. In fact that wall might come back and make you pay.

HOB action for Friday was pretty good. There was several games going on all day. I practiced with Scrzbill for a while and then played Eion for a few hours. I really like how these guys play one pocket. They don't win a couple of games and then say their tired and quit. Every player I have played has played at least four or five hours before saying they wanted to quit in an hour or so. thevtables are just like home, tight pockets and fast cloth. Only difference is the cue ball. The red dot has been banking different. I'm not sure where my kicks are going so there's a few scratches that normally would not happen. More action tomorrow.:dance::dance::ok::angel:
 
I got a phone call saying some guy from Kentucky was in there looking for action. Woofing at everyone. Lol.

Heard you did ok in there... Good luck. Maybe if I get time, Ill pay a visit to HOB. I need to start playing 1P eventually...

Play Phil. Super nice guy. Great action and is fair in adjusting/asking for weight if something is outta line.

Wow. If your coming all the way from Mexico to play me, I need serious weight before you even show up. LOL. People have been very nice in giving me weight to make a game. Wayne 11/7 and he's a monster. I'm scared to play him again but he plays so good, I can learn from him. I'm not in from Kentucky, San Jose, and it's not a road trip. It's family business for a month.
If the games right, I'll play all day and night until they close the doors. A short session for me is five hours. :thumbup::thumbup:

I've been better lately too but those days when my back is out, it's crazy. I've actually been able to start going to the gym too. It's the first time I've regularly gone to the gym and I like it so far.

Before I wouldn't go to the gym to get strong, just to test how far I had come. I would always do other types of exercises to get strong and then test how much stronger I was in the gym. i would do pushups, crunches, hand stand pushups, pullups that sort of stuff.

Now I've been going through the circuit training exercise machines. My goal is to max out the machines and do 5 full circuits of 50 reps in 9 months. I don't know if I'll be able to, but that's my goal. I've got it down on one of the machines and most of the others I'm about 2 thirds of the way there.

Hopefully, my back doesn't go out or I'll have to wait and start over again. oh well.
