SBE Allen really got greedy this year!

drawman,
my hat is off to you for taking the time, spending the money, taking the risk, taking great stuff so the collectors could enjoy, and doing all this with no guarantee that you would come out ahead

talk about hearti have to confess i wish i had half your heart
and 1/3rd of your great box cues
dc

One vendor I talked to said it cost him $350 to rent a pool table for his booth.

Wow.
Talk about complaining.

TD was all over everyone tonight.
Guys phone rang in the pro arena and he started to have a conversation, BOOM! TD was over there in 3 seconds to put the kibosh on it and politely tell the guy to have the conversation outside, and to turn off his ringer if he was inside the arena.

Guys crowded against the wall by the entrance were making noise, BOOM! TD was over there immediately to ask them to be quiet and if they could please sit in the appropriate seats.
Seemed to do a bang up job while we were there.

Bleachers were pretty packed as well. Especially over by the front table watching Hohmann/Deuel and that thriller ending.

Anyway, gotta get some sleep cause I gotta be back there at 11:30 to blow more money. :D
Excuse me. TD INTERUPTED K. Corr's run to put the names up!!!!
No defense of that. And that was the FIRST group of women. He stinks. Defend that. Hint. U can't.

We are probably lucky anyone cares enough about pool to try and do anything with it.

Posts like this make me ashamed to have anything to do with a lot of pool players.

They have no concept of what the costs in the Industry are. Its not supposed to be allowed that a promoter actually make more than break even on anything. I guess its his job to provide you entertainment for free.

Never mind the fact that you wanted it and could readily afford it.

U miss the point.
This is a good point. How many buy siminois cloth, arimith balls, diamond tables because of the support of pro pool???

These guys understand the power of professional endorsement and use in major events!

Some promoters like you said can afford it!

Players have all the risk and no reward. When a promoter does bad the purse is the first thing cut!

But, a promoter does well and still adds the same amount for 15 years straight!

I understand the players displeasure!

P.s. I am not saying this is the case with this event! Just painting pro players negatively is not 100% true. They have some justification looking at the big picture!

I haven't read most posts...

That said anybody who slams SBE is a 100 percent solid gold nit. This event is pool paradise (and he'll at times). You expect people to put on events as charity, it's not happening.
Diamond table, light, Simonis cloth. Aramith balls.....
For starters..... Come again?

Check my posts very little *****ing of any.
Read my latest posts carefully. I love pool and the Expo. Turned the table over to kids and father and son many times today.
Back to shooting in Aruba..... 🍺!!

My complaint wasn't about the cost of admission to the show. Rather that the pricing policy changed from previous years without notice. It added $120 to the cost of the show if you went to all the sessions over the course of the weekend. That's enough of a change that your customers should know about in advance, not find out about after they've paid their fee to get in.

To say that money I spend on merchandise doesn't benefit the promoter is not exactly accurate. If show goers like myself didn't spend money buying cues and cases and stuff the vendors wouldn't be there, and if I'm not mistaken the vendors do pay to rent space. :banghead:
Exactly!
Those posting otherwise are missing the point by A MILE!

I'm wondering what you do for work....how much do you get paid....when was your last pay raise....how much was it.....how much is the mortgage on your house....what's your monthly payments....what's your annual income.....how much do you bank every year?

I have tried to refrain, but this thread, the op, and those who agree are the problem with pool. To complain about this chump change is absurd. Play a round of golf, shoot targets, do any activity. Attend a pro ball game...it costs money. The promoter is at risk. You have no idea of the costs. You guys do not have a clue.

This thread is a reflection of broke ass pool players wanting something for nothing. You are the guys in the pool hall for free coffee and water. Think about it and be embarrassed. You all owe Allen an apology! BTW, I do not know Allen.

The lame ass loser excuses should be amusing from you business titans.

Weak response. Honestly $120 might seem like chump change to you but to the next guy it might not be especially if one saved up as much as they could to make the trip.

Also not notifying people of the increases in viewing in advance is bush league at best but this is the pool business where such practices are to be expected.

The prices were listed, the reason I remember is I was happy all the broke asses wouldn't be taking up all the chairs like last year. If they work on the type of seating it will be perfect.

Funny you mention "league" in your post - bunch of cheap asses wanting everything for free. If you want free stay home

This has nothing to do with crappy league pool so don't go there.

Some spectators who were in attendance did not know about these prices before arriving there so not sure where it was listed at.

league players are cheap and think they should get everything for free.

Tap wasn't there?

Right under ticket pricing and information - WHERE IT'S STILL AT. If people are too dumb to look at prices before they go then well.......

Absolutely

PRICES WERE POSTED! If you don't know what you're talking about please quit posting

Should he have sent everybody a letter personally??? Jesus

Every year... I mean EVERY year after the expo we have to go through the same old, same old on how Allen is robbing everyone at the expo.

Prices were posted on the SBE website, just like they are EVERY year. Check the website, and if you do not agree with the pricing DON'T GO.

Allen owes an explanation about how he runs his business to no one on AZB.

Another case in point why pool can't make it over the hump to be recognized as a top sport in the US.
