Clatterbuck, Vidal and Shorty all in the top 4? They call this an amateur tournament?

LOL; that is exactly what I was thinking and I was also wondering if maybe that was Troy Frank in the #2 position...lol.
There were also some other players outside of the top 4 that I saw on the charts; some that come to mind are Chris Loar, Dee Adkins and Joe Dipietro. I am sure there were others, as well.

Every single one of those guys runs around the country playing pool. They are there in Reno for a week for the US Bartable, two weeks at the derby, a week more at SBE and many more spots during the year. They regularly get staked for 4-5 figure sets. All of them would probably get up and play the 12ball ghost some on a decent table with regular sized pockets.
Does any of that sound like many "Amateurs" you know of?
I do agree that they do not play the touring pro level of Mika/SVB/Pinoy, but those guys just rape true amateurs on the pool table. Its a joke.
Although all the guys above play real good . None of them play great and to be a pro you need to play great. Yes they play in pro events and sometimes do ok but that doesn't mean they play pro speed. Do you know what these guys would need to play a guy like SVB. Forget about SVB what do they need to play Chris B. and what does Chris B. need to play a top pro. My point is there are a lot of speeds in between these guys and a solid pro.
If there was a solid pro tour with real money being paid these guys would be invisible. Just because the waters are murky in Men's pool it doesn't mean we need to graduate every solid playing pool player to pro-status.
Problem with American Pool #467: There is no organization to establish competitive levels, therefore, the placement of players within ranks of "Amateur", "Open", "Pro" are meaningless, arbitrary, & purely subjective. How can you be upset when chaos rules?
Clatterbuck beat Oscar Dominguez even in a long ahead set for a lot of cash...how many speeds do you think there are between them?
Matt could do fine with the pros, he's a solid player.
Well I saw Matt just get absolutley tortured by John Morra in a ahead for a decent amount of money at this year's US OPEN. The same John Morra Oscar destroyed. How long ago did Matt play Oscar and was it on a barbox or 9 footer.
Matt is a very solid player I just don't think he is a pro. No Knock on his game at all. We just have a different defintion of Pro that's all.
