With all due respect for Searing, since he is not here to represent himself, how do you know Dennis did this?

Is there a chance that someone put a logo on like his? Did the cue have points? If so, were the bottom ones sharp or flat?

I have respect for both names involved here, Schmelke and Searing.

I will be asking Dennis about this, if false, perhaps this can be deleted. If true, Thanks for pointing it out.

Thanks for the understanding.

Why would you think he didnt make it?

Searing has made cues out of Dufferin sneaky pete cues in the past, so why would it be so far fetched that he may have made cues out of a Schmelke Blank in the past?

I assume that Searing probably builds his own blanks, for his custom cues, but someone may have had a Schmelke blank to send him, and requested that he build the cue using that blank.

I just read a very interesting thread about cue makers who make cues from blanks, and it sounds like the cue maker needs to do a lot of work in order to complete the cue, even if they have a blank to start with.

Because nobody wants to think or believe that maybe the cue God used something made by a mortal.

They had rather think he clapped his hands together and in seven days created a blank.

I recently bought a four-point Schmelke 3/8x10 to go with my new Cynergy -- hits great!

The wood on the cue I mentioned was about that color. I will take a picture of it next Sunday if he brings it.

He sometimes brings a different cue to play with...all high dollar cues, but most of them are "simple" looking. At least, the ones I've seen.

I don't think the guy would have mentioned it was a "Schmelke" blank if it wasn't. He paid top dollar for the cue because it was turned by Searing.

I kept thinking about it yesterday, perhaps I should not have made the comment.

I Thank you for a nice response.

Wish I could send him a $40 blank and get it back as a Searing cue, not sure what it would be worth. Maybe your friend is good friends with him, however, Thanks again for the great response.

Food for thought

A guy I know was playing with his Searing Sneaky Pete at Brian's last Sunday.

It was made from a Schmelke blank.
Let me hijack this thread with a stroll down memory lane. You may want to read the whole thread linked below.

Along with a post from a seller who, himself, was taken advantage of

I want to apologize publicly for a thread I started for the sale of what I thought was a Dennis Searing. Turns out it was a Leon Sly.
The confusion for me comes in with the logo. Apparently Leon Sly used a logo identical to Mr. Searings for years before he joined AZBILLIARDS and it was the cause for concern by many of the users/cue buyers on here alike.
The similiarities between the logos and the "half joint" caused the person who sold it to me to believe he had a genuine early denis searing house cue conversion on his hands. He needed money, I made him an offer of $575 on what seemingly appeared to be a Dennis Searing cue and a deal was struck.
I came on here to flip the cue and was dead wrong. It wasn't a searing. It was a Sly.
I'm apologizing because I don't want anybody to think I was trying to take advantage of any of the buyers/collectors on here.
Some users seem to think the sale thread was a malicious attempt to take advantage of somebody naive to the logo similarities.
I want to make it abundantly clear that WAS NOT THE CASE.
I'm sorry either way for wasting anyone's time with the whole thing particularly howardthedick. He invested the most tiime with me regarding the cue on the phone and I want to say sorry to him for wasting his time. I hope he knows I wasn't trying to take advantage of him or anybody else on here for that matter.
Thanks for reading.
Sincerely,
Joe
P.S. Wilson please delete the thread. I've asked both yourself and Jerry to do so via pm. I hope to never see this thread again because all it does is remind me I was taken advantage of. A new for sale thread for the Leon Sly is now up in the wanted/for sale section so there is no need for it and i'd rather just not have to answer any further questions about that particular thread anymore. Thanks.

Then later there was further confusion when Leon's cues were thought to have been made by a guy named Harris, ahhhh, the circle of life.

What a Sly guy that Leon is.

And offering 575$ for a Searing, lol, another Sly guy.

Two phenomenal points made.

I can just imagine that conversation...

"You have a cue you want to sale, and don't know anything about cues, sure I can help you out. Oh, that's a Searing, they aren't worth much because of the ivory inlays, nobody wants that stuff, I'll give you 575.00 because I am feeling generous, and that other cue, well I never heard of Balabushka, I'll give you 200.00 because I like the looks of it, it might be worth 50.00$ if you're lucky ".

I jest of course, but 575$ for a Searing, lol, one has to wonder.
