The good news is Ka-Ching for Purdman, but the bad news is that U.S.Open winners get Free entry for the rest of their lives (and for some, even longer)........ Congratulations John, it's like winning the Super Bowl, they can never take it away from you. You are a part of pool history,now.

Wow! What a weekend!

Just got home from Chesapeake after watching an astounding display of 9 Ball from John Schmidt! He was one of my 3 picks for the tournament and his game was on another plane all weekend that I was there.

John, congratulations for a well deserved victory! Your game is awesome, your heart is that of a lion and your sportsmanship is the top of the pro game! It was an absolute thrill to watch your march to victory and celebrate it with all your other fans that were in attendance.

After I catch up on sleep and get some alcohol out of my system, I'll post some details.

Congratulations to John Schmidt..........He has certainly shown where he stands among the great players in the game....what a lineup of great players he beat to become champion! A giant achievement!

He lives north and west between the pan and the handle I believe. So in Smorg's terms that might be "around here." LOL

John plays on the Florida Men's Pro Tour at Capone's, Strokers and Planet 9-Ball ( and at Breakers in Mobile) and I get to see him quite a bit. I really like the way he and Thorsten Hohman play and conduct themselves..
