Scooter, Family Man and Best Hustler in America

There is a striking similarity between this and the plot of "The Color of Money." TCM did wonders for the pool world, but that was back in the day when people were allowed to think for themselves. Nowadays, something like this comes along and censors and lobbyists and oppressive do-gooders want to keep reality hidden from the world and shove their make believe utopia down the throats of society. What ever happened to just not watching or participating if you don't like it? Oh, yeah, that's a common sense philosophy. I forgot, common sense is not politically correct...
I hope this does well, not for Scooter's sake, but for the sake of pool. We all talk about how our sport needs "something" to boost its popularity. Well, this may or may not be it but at least it's something. It's not about Scooter. It's about pool. Scooter is just the ambassador.

Yeah, but you always make it personal and try to hurt peoples feelings and beliefs. I don't like your style. You have always been mean to me on this forum because I don't kiss your butt and agree with you. Certain words best describe you..

Of course, you are entitled to your opinion. I am engaging in a back-and-forth on a thread I initiated. I have replied to others, as well. Don't feel like you're so special. Seems to me like you're the one looking for an argument. I'm just trying to engage others in a productive colloquy about a reality series on pool. After all, this is a pool forum, last time I checked.

It's Perfect!

What do you think? ----------> Promo trailer.

The fund-raising campaign begins December 1st, and the filimg begins January 2015 ---> HERE.

I like the promo. It's funny. :grin-square:

I love it.

I posted a link http://www.mixedmartialarts.com/thread/2389202/American-Road-Player-What-are-your-thoughts/?pc=1 to spread it around and see the reaction from a different crowd.

I hope it does well.

Is this going to be made specifically for internet viewing or are they trying to sell it to T.V.?

I'm not sure. I'm hoping it is TV.

I know Angela has been trying to get her "Raising the Hustler" series off the ground, and it's an uphill battle. You need the right people with the right expertise, I think, and, of course, money helps. ;)

Either way, TV or Internet, I'm going to be there. I can't wait. :)

Our posts just crossed. Look what I just wrote about you and your "Raising the Hustler." I would love to see that get off the ground, too, after all you have invested of your life in this. It's absolutely beautiful! :)

Talk about making it personal! I'm sorry that you have a complex. Cheer up. This thread won't last too long, and it will only hurt a little bit. :)

I've been there for scooter t-shirt tearoffs and a spanky table jump and these knuckleheads, and I use the term affectionately, are two of the most entertaining guys in the game.

Like it or not, seedy and colorful characters are a part of our sport and its history.

Air it, I'm watching.

best,

Hear, hear. Now we're talking! Tap, tap, tap.

I see you're from Ocean Springs. Have they any new word on the murder of Mike Surber? It's a cold case now, it seems. He is still remembered fondly. We want to catch that creep who murdered him.

Did you really ask for opinions or were you looking to argue? I gave you my opinion and you disagree. That's fine.

Just mention the BCA and see how fast that tune changes.

The people they put in that show are cons and thieves. Who knows, they could even show them getting all spun out, on whatever they use nowadays, to take down a big sucker. Think Trudeau gets a walk-on when he's released?

I'll certainly watch it too. I was just curious.

I guess that my last thinking on this is that this project will help to ensure that respectable folks continue to avoid pool and that it will hinder the efforts of those who are trying to advance professional pool (if such a profession even exists). I suppose that viewers will always be attracted to the antics of reprobate morons unfortunately.

Sh#t sells and I suppose that the opportunistic amongst us can profit from it by selling Charmin. But don't be surprised when the air surrounding pool is a bit more foul.

When I was a kid I recall going into a "side show" in Coney Island once or twice. They've been around since the beginning of time and everyone, from royalty to guttersnipe, was at least curious as to what kind of "freak" was behind the door, or in the cage. I think I recall seeing the "Reptile Man", the "Fat Lady", and the "Two Headed Boy'.

It was great fun to do once or twice, but you really didn't want to see the same show more than once. Of course, they had a hook...another dime or quarter and you could see the "Alien", or some bigger and greater freak.

But seriously, it was a side show, nothing more, nothing less....and we all walked away very happy that we were not part of that show.

What is it with you guys? This started out as a fun pool thread, and it's always the same people who like to be Negative Nellies on crap on everybody else's parade.

Either you like it or you don't like, but you don't have to attack other members just because you don't like them.

Seems to me like this forum has a bunch of cons and thieves of joy on pool-related threads.

Finally! I've known a reality show is exactly what pool needs for an influx of participants for a long time. I'm glad this has finally come to fruition. It looks like it's well done and not as forced as the one about backers I saw last month, but I wish them both the best of luck. As far as people that are disgusted by this I can already imagine you sitting there watching this show in secret while being publicly "outraged and against it".:killingme:

JAM, I don't think hustling and stealing are the same thing. I don't blur that line.. I can't visualize Minnesota Fats and UJ Puckett standing at a car wash with a five dollar bill taped to a fishing line with pockets over-flowing with quarters

Here's a story you might enjoy...

I thought every scuffler carried a yoyo?

The obvious dump by Spank on the trailer and his "original" use of Titanic Thomas' jump the table hustle should appeal to the reality set.

I haven't lived here long so I didn't know him. My gf, however, knew him well. As far as I know there is nothing new. He is missed by all who knew him!

JAM, for crying out loud, you asked for opinions and when someone disagrees with your opinion you get personal. So only way for this to be a fun thread is everyone must agree with you?
