Motivation, where are u?

Now I know that internet forums are mostly annonymous but people on here have a way of being found out for who they really are. My name is Kevin Brown and I'm nobody in the pool world. I'm just a slightly above average player, if that. I like playing the game but have so little motivation to do so nowadays due to the nature of the people and lack of action around here, it's amazing really. Back to the original point...

I would like to give credit where it's due to all the people in the pool community(the ones that matter and are known anyway) for using their real name as their screen name. I'm inspired to make this post by 1 particular individual who falls under the criteria I'm referring to btw. There are alot of guys on here who don't use their name but people know who they are and they aren't trying to hide it, that's different than what I'm talking about.

Basically, I'm just ribbing a good friend of mine as I know he will see this and not comment because he's a scared little female dog! hahaha

Ribbin's....in due course....

I believe I'm the only player on the forum from Joliet who goes by James. I also use this name on four other forums and it's my email so I'm pretty easy to find. I ain't ascared!

My real Name is Tony Metz. I guess I could have used it as my screen-name, but when I was a visiting "guest" to AZB back in 2006, I thought everybody was using a made-up username, so I too went that route.

I too am a nobody in pool (hell, in LIFE :embarrassed2:), being a C player on one of my better days.

I went with Maniac 'cause that's what I've been known as by friends since High School. I was one of those guys that would do some real crazy sh*t to get a laugh out of someone. I've settled down quite a bit now (I'll be 60 in a couple of months), but I still have my moments ;).

Tony "Maniac" Metz (not showing up on anyone's Power Rankings charts EVER)

My name is John Flaherty and I live in Mass. I am known around Boston as Psycho John. I do break the rack pretty hard....Cracktherack. I have fun playing and just seek enjoyment and relaxation from a friendly game, 9 ball, 10 ball, straight or one pocket. Play well, relax and enjoy the coffee. Good friends make great company. New friends are only a smile away.

my story

It might come as a surprise to some but Hu isn't the name on my birth certificate neither am I the slightest bit Asian that I know of. However at least a half-dozen businesses have been "Hu's" whatever, Hu is what is on my checks and driver's license, and when I shot pool for over 360 days a year for ten years or so I used Hu. Anytime a site takes a two letter handle I use Hu if it isn't taken and some people have "fixed" newer site software so I could continue to be Hu. Anywhere I go, anywhere I compete, I am known as Hu, still how I identify myself at competitions. If I wanted to hide I could use my real name! I went to a big event in Kentucky and didn't put "Hu" on my shirt and a couple dozen people said they were sorry they missed me.

"Hu" started in high school and at the time pool players were pretty ken on using a phoney name where I was at as soon as they could run three balls and thought they were players. I tried the phoney name for a few months and thought how silly is that and simply dropped my last name. "Hu" is pronounced "Hugh" a common enough name. I picked up many nicknames over the years but since I didn't use them myself they died out. Looking at my avatar I can't figure out why some people called me wildman or wolfman back then. Since I ran a lot of redneck country I was also sometimes called hippie or the hippie. I wasn't the hippie, anyone with a beard that wasn't gray was called a hippie back then. Several ladies in different times and places nicknamed me bear. Kinda liked it then because I liked the ladies but I never used the name itself and it eventually faded away. Bear has taken on a different meaning to some these days so damned good thing it didn't stick! :D

Rastus(confusion to the enemy!)

Hu(guess I really didn't need to add more to the confusion!)

Tony,

You may say you're a "C" player. Those of us on the forum know you really are an "A" level poster! To me that's more important.

This thread get done alot but Ill pitch in again.....

I am Elmer J. Fudd, millionaire. I own a mansion and a yacht.

you don't need to give us too much credit...our real names were easier to use than actually thinking up a clever one.

Drunks or Alcoholics

My name is Matt Spina and I am a former APA7 pool player and alcoholic because AA is for quitters.

I'm just an occasional drinker & I'm glad that I don't have to attend those darn meetings.

I'm Charley Bond from Tulsa

I wish I had a cool fake name. Maybe I'll start up a new account and call myself, Fontleroy Fartwagon. (It's pronounced far' twa gone)!

"it could have been a lot worse"

I guess Hu was better than Uh!

Speaking of such things back in that time I knew a young lady named Neline, spelled that way. Her dad was a joker and true or not he always told her that since his name was Bernel and his wife's Maxine they took the "Nel" from his name and the "ine" from her mom's name to get hers. When she told me the story I instantly pointed out it could have been a hell of a lot worse, her dad could have named her Bermax!

I think one of my favorite AZers TATE done this not long ago but it's a good topic. I use Peteypooldude because my name is Pete and everyone knows me as Petey. My pic is in my avatar and I'm a pretty well known player around the beach and by most players that travel this area. I try to be the same person on AZ or off. There IMO is nothing wrong with a screen name if they are not abusing the fact their anonymous.

I repeat...

...You guys are awesome! From the silly answers that make me laugh to the back stories that sometimes also make me laugh, great responses ALL.

I don't use my real name because there is a famous person with the same name that sells sex related stuff and I want to avoid any confusion.

My name is Henry and I've been called Professor, Desapenado and Henry Hill. I lived in a Moose Lodge in Mass near a pool table for 7 years and played all comers, eventually had people making the drive to play me.

I play in the Midwest a lot and usually lose. I play on the east coast a lot and usually win.
