Seal a CF Shaft

Very few produce their own tubes. Cuetec, Pred, Whyte/Viking, BeCue i know for sure make their own. Most cf shaft sellers buys from a supplier and then complete the shaft so there's really not a lot of difference in most of them. I've A-B'd the Rhino against Pred, CT, McD,Meucci and the early BeCue Prime and i honestly can not tell much difference in any of them. Subtle differences in sound/feel/squirt for sure but nothing big. Definitely don't see the $300(and up) price differences when it comes to actually using one. The fact(?) that one may/may not be a tad dirtier to use is not going be a deal breaker for me.

Seems as though Rhino is going the way of many smaller companies….
The customer is quality control.

My Rhino shaft is slick, quiet and leaves no residue after the initial intensive cleaning.

The OP either got a lemon, or it’s the desert/dry climate. :dunno:

I get the sense he has not cleaned it enough... yet.

I can see where you may want to think that I'm not sure I understand why you'd think that. He's obviously concerned or this thread would be dead. Anyone that concerned I'm assuming has rubbed the shit out of that shaft with 91% alcohol.

One would think, right?!

No comment from @Island Drive on the matter yet though...

mine neither. almost too dry, my golf grips get slick quik from the lack of moisture.
I carry and apply paraffin to my linen to create tackiness.
Some times I'll take my heat gun, slightly melt it then twist wipe the excess.

Intensive, tell me what you do. I'm thinking I'll spin it up and go at it. I find more of the transfer while holding/chalking with my left hand.

How intensive?

Dude...
Get a cloth or some paper towels and some hand sanitizer or rubbing alcohol and wipe until the black stops.

Alcohol & paper towels. By hand until clean.
A double paper towel folded in half, and in half again and again. 2 or 3 times.
Rubbed the heck out of it each time.

FWIW, I never chalk with my bridge hand.

Still think you got a lemon :dunno:

I just got a Rhino shaft . I wiped it down with microfiber towel and alcohol very little black dust came off. Played for about 2 hours on home table nothing black on hands or table. I also did not notice any noise either. I will say it was weird for me as this is the first low deflection shaft I have ever played with. I had to recalibrate a lot of shots.

Nope, I got two lemons.
Now I just need a pitcher, sugar and some ice. :)

I used a clean white/cotton towel till the blackening was gone.... then.
I played for and hr and the Jack black/was Back.
I've been talking with em about.... the insert/shaft/threading/female tolerances were not as tight as the first shaft.
Loose but, it faces up properly.
I contacted em.... they will replace it, for a very small fee.
Since I spent 17 yrs (Mr Machine) in auto/truck repair I let Rhino know the supplier of the inserts/mfg who cuts the 5/16 14 hole was nowhere near as snug/tight and right when I attach it to my handle as my first shaft.
Because of this they will replace it.
Their back/forth communication has been great and timely.
My concern was more for them, if the machine tap was worn then more situations will arise and they should attend to this immediately.
My first shaft, I had to use graphite to work it in just a little, it's perfect.

I've noticed this on a few and didn't care for that aspect of the Rhino. Pechauer, Jacoby, Becue, super smooth and rarely even require a cleaning. Rhino, Meucci, noisy through the bridge and feel unfinished. My Becue shaft always feels even better than a freshly sealed wood shaft.
I play with a Becue Natural Born Naked Cue, Becue is a great company that was founded on bringing CF to the game of pool, check out their website on info of their technology, all CF is not created equal, I've had my cue for about a year now and couldn't be happier, these guys really know CF and even have different formulas of CF for different types of "feel of the hit" I play guitar and love wood, but after playing with my Becue cue I don't ever want to go back to a wood cue, CF cues don't make you play better but they aren't affected by temp , humidity ect. so in my opinion they are more consistent, the only major problem with them is when I miss a shot I can no longer blame it on my cue!!!!!!!!!!!!

I’m leaning to Becue myself. Is your shaft a prime or engage?

I like their line of accessories as well. A bit pricey but it is Italian craftsmanship.

Plus the Italians brought us SOPHIA!!! What a women!!!

Also, they likely will don't warp from the sun sitting a hot car all day, now the handle wood/if WOOD. :)
