Searing tribute: High figured bem, tulipwood, ivory

You should be shot for using the Searing name to sell your cues :frown:.

Not impressed............TommyT

Maybe you be shot for being classless and tastless:thumbup: I don't see where he using anyone's name to sell a cue. it's a style. I've see more than a few south west "style" cues do we shoot all of those guys too? I have a cue with a Hoppe ring, do we kill eveyone who makes one of those cause they copy the first one made? Just aksing.

Beautiful cue Mr. Fisher That BEM is sweet. No harm in calling it a Searing tribute. I remember that Searing cue. Keep up the good work.

I am a member of quite a few different forums as I have more than one interest of course, some more expensive than others. This is bar none, the worst forum (post wise) I visit. Always some d***wads trying to act like butts, posting bs. People having no nice comments on people's cues unless its like 10G or so. Obviously it is not everyone (always bad with the good). Those who it is directed at will be a little frazzled when they read I am sure, who cares......

The difference between a SW or Szamboti tribute cue and what you call a Searing tribute cue is that the former mentioned cues have a unique style that would be recognized. I see nothing about your Searing tribute other than the name that would connect it to Dennis.
It looks like a great cue and the BEM is killer, but when I see it I don't think of Searings.
FWIW...............TommyT

Now this should have been your first post, you should pause, and think before posting some times.

I saw a searing about 3-4 years ago that looked like this. Tulip handle, awsome birdseye forearm and sleeve. black and tulip ringwork.

And by the way, what I'm about to say isn't an insult to Mr. Searing and if anyone takes it that way your really messed up in the head. Besides a short stainless joint, or the S in the buttcap, or Dennis Searing signed on the cue, how could you distiguish between a Searing and someone else? Most (not all) of Dennis's cues are known for there playability and high quality when it comes to tolarences, not the design. Meaning it's put together very well, everything matches up extreamly well, ect.....but unless it's one of his well known cue's he's built would you be able to say, Hey thats a Searing if you didn't know Johnny own's a searing, or Hey I saw that cue on AZ billiards. This doesn't mean he doesn't make a beautiful looking cue either, please don't twist or read anything into what I just wrote.

Just because you have never seen the cue I'm talking about, doesn't mean it doesn't exist.

Come on guys, I think he menat it as a figure of speech. Haven't you guys have had your wife say to you "you should be shot for watching so much football today instead of mowing the lawn" or even me "I'd kill for a beer right now"

Knowing him, he didn't mean it literally, but he was making a point rather sternly (just like my wife),

Just don't ever call your wife a dumb c_nt, there probably WILL be firearms involved literally. Other than that relax guys

...Funny thing is I only post because some of my customers think me showing cues here is a good Idea. Ah, yeah. Sure.

I will say that I don't see anything particularly 'Searing-esque' about this cue. That's not to say its ugly or anything like that. Its really attractive and the wood figure is really nice. But I just don't get see anything that screams 'Searing' to me.

Bottom line is... no matter what you do and what you post, you're gonna have people who love your cues AND people who hate them.

Best advice I can offer, post the pics and let them sell themselves. Contraversy may ensue, but it can only get your name out there. Even bad press can drive up business.

Oh, nice cue by the way.

When i was very young i use to make drawings, to others they didnt look like exactly same all the time. But to me they always look perfect and i could always see what I made.

I think each one of us would have experienced that.

It is just his personal tribute to searing.Thats what he has in mind.i dont see nothing wrong with it.

Relax people. Take it easy:thumbup:

And there, my friends, are true words of wisdom; and Clif if I ever did that I think I wouldn't be lucky enough for a firearm to be involved

Bryan,
That's a beautiful cue and I've seen the one it was modeled after
Keep up the good work
Paul

Beautiful Work

It seems you get flamed on here if you do things the right way or wrong way. Mebe he should have put a 1/2 stainless joint on it :)

This is a gorgeous cue. I am a big fan of Tulipwood (usually with ebony) but this is fantastic with the birdseye (and that is some intense birdseye)

Keep up the great work and dont let the negativity get to ya.

Fwiw

I started to type a long answer to this. F**k it. I believe I have seen the 2 Dennis did similar to this, this does not resemble them, except for the BEM front and back and tulipwood handle, but on it's own this cue has some SICK BEM. Gorgeous. And I like a lot of Bryans other work I have seen.

Thanks, there are a few subtle differences but I was still inspired by the one Dennis made.

And funny thing is, I really didn't make this cue to sell, I was making it for me. But I've got alot of interest now, so it might be for sale. But my intent wasn't to get a sale using Dennis's name.

Good Point, can not see a Searing in this Cue :eek::eek:
Ralf:D

A cue with this basic design, Tulipwood wrapless, was Dennis's personal playing cue for many years. It was a great playing cue that he offered to sell to me many years ago, but being a dumbsh* I declined. Think it ended up in someones collection.
Nice cue Mr Fisher
Hey RascalDoc how you doing?

Not a thing wrong with a tribute cue to Searing from Bryan who obviously makes a fine quality cue... Again the key word we should not overlook is "tribute". Let's not knock him for honoring a fellow craftsman. Bryan by the way... keep posting pictures of your work.

---holes on line

You make a very nice cue ,and by your other posts it shows your open for other designs, KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK, Rich

Bryan, if you were wondering why your cues had water marks on them after Vegas, that was drool, I was touching all of them.
