Secrets!

It may be unknown to many players, but that doesn't make it a "secret". Coming on a discussion board to announce "I now something you don't and I'm not telling" is as juvenile as it sounds.

i agree

I forgot he was talking all this crap or I wouldn't have erased the four posts earlier. I actually felt sorry for him. Now I know exactly why he claims there isn't anything better than the bogus crap he has been advertising.

It's a shame that you have to insult people's intelligence. What's worse is that you know better.

JB, i understand and agree with you. When i said i with agreed PJ, it was sarcasm, i couldnt make any sense of what he said in respose to my post.
All i said was that the "drag shot is no secret to snooker players". For the record ,i think this thread is great, and thanks to whoever it was that shared this particular secret...." walk into the shot with your cue on your hip" this is great advice, it is now part of my PSR, thank you. And PJ, dont take life so serious, its not permanent.

See if u remember !

Yes and they ususally catch on to It pretty quick. Most that Is.You ever heard of people that were to smart to learn?LOL I run In to that every now and then.John B.

over 20 years ago you came to New Orleans & played in a big tourney....I'm pretty sure u came out 2nd to Jimmy Sanders...You beat a friend of mine from Houma 9-1...You won 1st game & played safe in the second game...& this is when jump sticks just started coming into play...well..my buddy Jason jumped a ball off your safe & chit it in & ran out...then broke dry and only other time he came to table was one game where he had to kick at a ball which he hit but left u a shot...after match u apologised to him saying...I'm sry but these bar boxes are a joke...lol

You're right, Joey - my apologies. I pissed Mikjary off in another thread tonight enough to make him threaten me, and that surprised me enough to make me stop and think. Maybe I'm taking my latest banning out on the forum in general.

Apologies to everybody (except those who enjoyed it).

lotta people ask for info they aren't ready for....
...if you don't have accuracy, you have no foundation.
Shoot long straight shots with no spin....till you own'em

Hey Troy,I remember coming In second In that bar table tourny. It was called The Big Easy and It was held In some kind of big shopping mall. Now I can't remember telling your buddy that though. That was my best finish In a big tourny at the time. And the most $ I had ever received from a tourny. That was a great time and tourny untill I got contacted while down there that my dad had been hit while walking across the street at a county fair In my home county. He was in a coma from then on for 15 months till he passed away.Good memories, bad memories. For some reason I remember that Mark Cavalier pretty good.Seems he and I had a good time while I was down there.I used to play them ole bar tables pretty good uhh??LOL Thanks,John B.

ok JoeyA, I'll try to describe the shot as good as I can. I'm not familiar with cuetable.

CB is in the middle of the table. 8-ball is on the short rail but half an inch from being frozen. Its about a 75-80° cut and the 9-ball is on the opposite short rail middle diamond. Some people may try to play safe by putting distance and trying to make that shot with inside english is really tough because the 8-ball isnt frozen. The shot I'm talking about is a drag bottom-outside but struck firmly so it really dies by the time it reaches the 8-ball. You sink the 8, the outside spin will bring you before the side-pocket and down to the other short rail for position on the 9.

I'm sure many of you know that shot but its really difficult to aim with the drag bottom-outside and I never see anyone try it besides the player who showed it to me. It might not be the perfect option but its a really good one if defensive isn't one at the moment providing the layout is bad.

Mark got back into playing & can still hit a gear r 2...That's about the time I just got into pool & gambling and was pretty green...My buddy Larry knew Jimmy Sanders & asked me if i wanted to go in with him & buy him in calcutta telling me he was as good a buy as anybody...I never heard of him & politely declined offer..Jimmy sold for $100 dollars if i remember rt & wound up winning tournement..go figure huh..lol...take care..was just taking a trip back down memory road.

Great. Apology accepted.

I highlighted your last taunt in my signature blue just to give you a little extra press.

Let's hope you will stay around a long time to contribute to the forum in a positive manner. You've got the skill sets to do just that.

Leave the bickering, backstabbing, b****slapping, name-calling to others with less time in the hole and less to offer. You're not getting any younger and I just don't know if you can take another ban.

Is this the shot?:

CueTable Help

I forget who said it, but a given player's ability is made up of many thousands of tiny kernels of knowledge.

Let's say that Efren has the most kernels of knowledge. Each one of those that you don't know, is therefore a secret.

For the most part, each piece of knowledge is equally important. So knowing just one more of these secrets is not going to put you over the top.

For example, I know that a ball coming off the short rail at 45 degrees with no spin will pass through the center of the table, and therefore has no possibility of scratching in the corner.

For those that don't know that, it's a secret. But knowing it won't turn you into a great player. You need many thousands of these pieces of knowledge.

These little pieces of knowledge are SECRETS. You don't see Efren running around telling everyone how he performs his magic do you. This information is KEPT from the general public and you have to discover it by close observation, stealth or getting to be his friend, so if the information is KEPT from the general public even the most ardent supporters of the waning theory that there are no secrets has to concede that these are SECRETS.

Nevertheless, this thread has been a pleasant surprise overall, with some of the finest "SECRETS" being shared, except for a couple of stingy codgers. :D

I'll tell you one thing. Rafael knows some sh-t about kicking safe on balls that not too many people know. Next time you get a chance watch his safety play. AWESOME!

Clean new balls, clean new cloth..maybe.IMO,John B.

John,
New cloth and clean balls on a 9 foot Diamond Pro Am: Do you cut this 8 ball playing two rail shape, straight up and down the table, one rail shape with draw to kill the cue ball speed, two rail shape with inside English, soft stroke with outside spin, draw drag with outside playing two rail shape like originator of shot or play safe. It's for the ALL AROUND CHAMPIONSHIP at the Derby City Classic. :D

I like this shot, use variations of it often. If you miss, you normally leave your opponent with a very difficult shot - short rail to short rail.

I learned the shot in the Philippines of course. They love to spin the ball

No question about this shot.If all new and everything clean like you and I said.I cut the 8 with pure spin(lots of spin),center left cueball. This is not a hard shot.Yes the cball will come 2 rails down for the 9. I wouldn't think about banking this shot.lol I don't think you need any drag at all on the cball for this shot.Just spin.imo. John B.
PS: If everything Is dirty,or humid, I bank the ball and draw back.
