My cuemaker will be matching a shaft to my cue but I don't think he is interested in finding/installing micarta for the ferrule so who can I send the shaft to that has and is willing to sell/install a micarta ferrule for me?

What do you hope to gain?.?. If it's a sharper hit.... Go for a 1/2 in uncapped ferrule and hard tip

Not exactly sure what I hope to gain, but I have always wanted to try it out and now I have the opportunity.

I'm surprised you haven't got a taker yet!

Just be aware that not all "micarta" are the same. Mason micarta and newer micarta will play different than the much older westinghouse micarta.

Micarta

If what you have is the old Westinghouse Micarta just a reminder, It's been said that that stuff cant be taped and threaded under power.

So other than the "sharper hit"... any another advantage/disadvantage to using uncapped ferrules?

I was also curious about capped vs uncapped ferrules.

You'd drop dead if it's tapped or threaded under power ?
I've live threaded a few .
Heck, someone said you should wear gloves when working with them.

Just to clarify - the original(Runde Schon) stuff can easily 'Grab' the tap like Alumin
often does.
When this happens under power, it often splits.
