I was in a room the other day and they were having a Senior pool event and it was jammed. The whole place was hopping and a lot of those guys were just over 50 def not put out to pasture.

What struck me was the purchasing power in the room.

Why just once a year? People were watching me practice and trying to figure out what I was doing to make balls, asking me what to do and were interested in the game.

Does your pool room offer a senior rate to the senior players?

Why do they not?

Is it more important to try and extract the full fee from the senior player or is it more important to have people in your room playing, drinking and having fun?

It just seems to me that the rooms Ive been into dont seem to be capitalizing on this audience very well. I cant imagine that their presence would do anything but good for pool rooms. Am I wrong in this or should we only market pool to higher paying customers who can pay?

This is a good Idea for pool halls to get more seniors in to play. If they offer a discount! Besides it looks to me like the seniors have more money to spend and more time to be in the pool hall! they are also not as hard on the pool hall equipment either! Talking about the real young players that are learning to play!

In a not so ironic twist there are way more pool players over 40 than under 40 in the league I play in. It's one of the reasons pool will struggle to stay viable in the future. The under 30 crowd has found other ways to enjoy themselves than playing pool. JMO!!!!

Eactly the reason why I recommended the name "Early Bird Billiards" for the new room in Florida. :)

I'm a senior and the pool room I go to offers everyone a $6.00 flat rate to play from 10 AM to 4 PM 7 days a week. Tough to beat that. And it's on newly recovered Gold Crown 9 footers.
