Seriously, do you need an aiming system on a barbox?

Seriously.
Not gonna mention any specific system.
Really.
Do we need to see a video of an aiming system on a barbox?
Really. How far is that pocket?
If you can't line the shot up, would some system help?
Where does the cueball go after you make the ball?

Now, how about that video of Ronnie on regulation table?
What system is he using?

He sees an imaginary line from the target pocket directly through the center of the object ball. He then aims his cue directly at that intersecting point on the object ball, only adjusting for the effects of any spin he might choose to use.

He has done this so much and so often that conscious thought is rarely required.

And he does it all VERY quickly.

That "system" will work on any table so long as it is true and level.

obviously you didn't see me on a barbox today!

Joey,

Obviously you didn't see me on a barbox today. I don't think anything short of guided missile technology might have helped. Couldn't kick off of the end rail worth a hoot! Never-the-less I have came up with my own aiming system and I'm publishing it here to allow free usage by the female shooters. Male shooters can use it too I guess but I won't have nearly as much fun watching.

You put your right foot in,
You put your right foot out;
You put your right foot in,
And you shake it all about.
And you turn yourself around.
That's what it's all about!

You put your left foot in,
You put your left foot out;
You put your left foot in,
And you shake it all about.
And you turn yourself around.
That's what it's all about!

You put your right hand in,
You put your right hand out;
You put your right hand in,
And you shake it all about.
And you turn yourself around.
That's what it's all about!

You put your left hand in,
You put your left hand out;
You put your left hand in,
And you shake it all about.
And you turn yourself around.
That's what it's all about!

You put your right side in,
You put your right side out;
You put your right side in,
And you shake it all about.
And you turn yourself around.
That's what it's all about!

You put your left side in,
You put your left side out;
You put your left side in,
And you shake it all about.
And you turn yourself around.
That's what it's all about!

You put your nose in,
You put your nose out;
You put your nose in,
And you shake it all about.
And you turn yourself around.
That's what it's all about!

You put your backside in,
You put your backside out;
You put your backside in,
And you shake it all about.
And you turn yourself around.
That's what it's all about!

You put your head in,
You put your head out;
You put your head in,
And you shake it all about.
And you turn yourself around.
That's what it's all about!

You put your whole self in,
You put your whole self out;
You put your whole self in,
And you shake it all about.
And you turn yourself around.
That's what it's all about

Yeah the system is kinda hokey and folks that use it are kind of pokey.

(I hope Johnny Archer doesn't get wind of this system, without a shot clock we'll be timing him with a calendar!)

I hadn't played on a bar box in probably 15 years, hadn't even seen one in that long, and one night when I went to a bar they happened to have one. Having spent those 15 years playing on 9 footers I got down on that bar box and it seemed like every ball was within my reach. I played really well but really didn't enjoy myself on that tiny table.

He didn't have one shot over 3'. No system needed. Johnnyt

While it's hard to fall too long on a barbox, you can always fall too thin on a shot, even one that's 3 inches away.

I'd think that's a good test for an aiming system. Your execution can't really screw up over the course of three inches (I'd hope) so an accurate system should allow a player to do one of those sharp cuts 6 feet up the long rail. I know that situation is one of my favorites with ghostball because it's so easy to see the contact point. Often I can just find a speck of dirt or chalk near it.

I played maybe 10 games in my life on a table other than a 9 footer, but I have seen some APA promo videos. In them I see players hit the rail about 3 feet in front of the pocket and watch the ball fall in barely hitting the pocket points. I think as long as your aiming system allows you to contact the cue ball with your stick, and send it somewhere within 4 inches of the object ball, you'll make the shot.
