Setting Up A Pro Tour

evasive

Danny

Your boycott of the US Open is because you had a poor experience with the guy who handles the seating? Do you feel your not playing will in any way effect the 2 guys you mentioned realizing what you feel they need to realize?

Thanks

Kevin

No need to ask rehtorical questions Kevin, I hope the best for the US Open Berry (Brady's father) runs a successful event that attracts a huge crowd every year. I can only hope that some say Brady Behrman (his son) will realize that he has to make good on his debts with the players. Brady does not care that he owes me money, there is no protection for the players on the UPA - which is why they have a website with virtually no tournaments. By the way the poor experience I had with Brady is that I was owed money from an event that he promoted and was never fully compensated - what is real strong is that Brady does not care about owing me money and probably thinks it's a joke, he also lied to the readers on this forum saying he had already paid me. As soon as Brady is ready he can pm me and I will tell him what he owes and then the forgiveness process can begin, I doubt he has it in him. He has owed me money from that event for almost twelve years, the quicker he decides to clear the debt the sooner I will be able to compete at the US Open. It's funny cause I paid a $500.00 dollar entry like everyone else, the UPA is was at fault more than anyone else as Brady's event was sanctioned by the UPA. I was not the only one who did not get paid - there were three other players. I could have sued the UPA and Frank Alvarez and or Brady Behrman for their neglegence in failing to treat a player with even a small amount of respect. I ask you Kevin - would you want to compete in a tournament where you would have to see a certain individual who owes you $ for a past event - who is also helping in a small way to orchestrate the event? If so then your wired much different and or don't understand just how much of a mental game pool really is. I do not totally blame Brady it was just his first event and there was a snowstorm that effected his gate - what bothers me is that he too like Frank Alvarez refuses to accept responability for giving his word that I will get paid. Another finaancial factor besides my entry fee (which I paid) to keep in mind is I had motel expense and my air fair. Here we are almost twelve years later - me still being owed money for a tournament that was sanctioned by a governing body of so called pro pool and at this event there was no money in escrow for the players protection. Is there anyone out there that thinks something is a little wrong with professional pool?

I think Justin with TAR voices his opinion on this every week.16 player brackets with only top players competing. As long as you do good and show results u would continue to be able to play.If u play poorly and fall in ranking others who I guess play thru qualifiers would be able to advance on to the tour. This seems to be what an actual tour would consist of.I think a 500 dollar entry fee is not enough though.Downside to that is most players are not gonna stake themselves in a 1k-2k buy in and stake horses are getting more and more upset with pool daily. All top players I have spoke with also agree that this is the way to go.Plus if u have to play good to remain on tour it makes it more competitive and that brings more fans...Even know it is only a 2 man event. The Action Report is the only true top level event we have right now in the U.S..Anybody can play on a tour. How is that a pro tour..Nobody wants to pay to watch Johnny Archer shoot my nuts off..Im pretty sure your idea is already in the works and it would be interesting to see it get off..

Danny H went more than a year w/o being paid and I think it was more like 3 years. I believe there are others but I don't know for sure. Johnnyt

It was not Barry who chose to not pay Danny.

The event was promoted by Barry's son, Brady...and the UPA failed to support Danny in the matter.

Weird or not, Danny got FLlCKED without a kiss on that one.

Tour

I think you could start a reality show following about 12 players around as they play tournaments. Interview them at the tournaments, get their thoughts and what their strategy is. Different situations for different players.

Doesn't have to be all about tournaments, you can hit on the gambling aspect, and look into the player's life as a whole. Are they married, have kids, how they relate on a daily basis, how they train, what equipment they use, what cuemakers they like. They could also go to a TAR Event, interview the players, get the inside scoop so to speak.

I think this could work, really do. It would help the public get acquainted with some of the players, learn about their lives and competition, and just what it takes to be a Pro Pool Player.

I could see a Beer Company getting on board as a sponser of the show, or maybe a Car company showing a player traveling the country in one of their cars. And it might help get sponsers for a real Pro tour, which could be on the reality show too.

Perhaps this could be a next step for the TAR people ...

For sure you are right, we are wired way differently. For me, the example you give would have me wondering exactly who I was punishing the most my not plying my trade at the highest level, and I'd figure it was my own butt getting bit. But like you said, different wiring, and I'm all sure we think the world would be a better place if everybody just thought like we each did.

One thing for sure, trying to make a living as a pro pool player is a crummy way to go. 125th player on the PGA Tour makes 300+K in official money and a bushel full of endorsements and appearance money, and he's just playing well enough to scrape by ad keep is playing card. Nobody makes near that playing pool. So yeah, tough way to go.

You are missing a key ingredient as to how I am wired Kevin, it's not about who is right or wrong. The US Open event is only once a year, you make it sound like it is the only show in town and or I am only hurting myself for not playing. This is not a matter of ego and no I am glad that everyone is not like - minded (the world would truly be a boring place if that were the case). The fact remains that it's not in my wiring to be able to compete in an environment where one of the promoters won't keep his word in relation to owing me $. The neg. vibes are so strong that I am not comfortable having fun and playing at my top level, this may be a subtle excuse for me to not compete at the Open but that is my choice. Brady's Dad paid my entry the last year I competed in the US Open (nice gesture from Berry - as he was aware that Brady owed me $) but again I could not give it my all once I saw Brady I knew I was done. Again the problem can be solved very easily if Brady is willing to do so but as he said take a chill pill and relax Danny you will get paid - uuh the tournament he owes me $ for was held in 2001 if my memory serves correct I think it's fairly safe to assume that Brady has no intentions of squaring up with me. When Brady Behrman gives you his word you can write it in sand. I don't care if Brady owing me the $ has a negative or positive effect on the US Open - all I know is I won't even consider competing there untill his son pays me what I am owed. If you Kevin would want to go to work where they have owed you a check for your hard work for over 10 years then YOU sir are most definitley wired different than me.

Do you have any legal recourse? You should take action if you do, and end the bitterness.
