Hello,

This is a general question on what shaft sealer do you like the best between these listed below. There are so many to choose from plus alot of options on making your own, just looking for opinions.

Brianna's save a shaft
Cueman's shaft sealer
Rapid Pad
Joe's Speed Seal II
Behlens Sanding Sealer
Wood Turners Finish

Hi,

I been using Rapid for 6 years and recently changed to Brianna'a Product. I like it a lot better because it does not get as sticky when you are burnishing it. With Rapid Pads you have to take it easy when you burnish or you get a candy like sticky areas on the shaft. You have to watch your speeds with rapid pads but it is a great product.

I don't use nelsonite on my wood. I take 12 passes on my shafts over a minimum of a years time with the last 4 at .005 or less in a weeks time. I like to use a waterborne wood sealer after final dimension, then let the grain raise happen. After sanding out the grain raise I then put on the Rapid Pad or Save a Shaft. A light coat of Carnuba wax after that.

My favorite didn't even make your list, it is made and sold by Jer (blackheartcues) and this reminded me I need to order a new bottle. Pm Jer and he might send you a sample bottle and I know you will like it, it drys real quick and stands them little hairs up. I use 4000 grit bowling ball polishing pads after the sealer and you don't need any wax, to have ther slickest shaft you can imagine.--Leonard

I was very famliar with Rapid Pad when I came up with my sealer and I feel it is a good bit better than Rapid Pad, but it does cost a little more. I have not tried Lee's or Joe's sealer so I can't say who's is the best, but I feel mine is better than the other three and I have tried all three of them.

i have tried a few but always come back to hightowers sealer. it works best for me. chuck

I have been using the Deft brand laquer based sealer. You can get it in a spray can, which is convenient, and it works well for me.

Edit: I misunderstood the question. Out of those listed I have only tried the Hightower stuff,
and it worked well.
