Shampoo for Simonis?

I'd contact Simonis. If I was going to experiment I'd use Woolite. Spot test first,
 
I don't know of any good trick that doesn't lead to staining/discoloration.
 
Without taking the cloth off, a " full " cleaning of any type will be very tedious, if not harmful, but i suppose it could be done.

That said, I have taken a cloth to a commercial dry cleaner and had great results.
 
I've always steam cleaned mine. Portable steam cleaner is available from Walmart for $80.

Makes the cloth look brand new.

How much did it run at the dry cleaner, and what rate they used (drapes, sheets)?

860 is 80/20 blended wool, 860hr is 70/30 if I recall correctly. Glen H said use woolite and hot water, using a damp rag.

Vacuum the table, then wet and wring out a wash cloth and wipe it down.

Wipe the pockets, and the rails, as they collect a lot of dirt. Do the above now and then.

I can't believe how complicated some people want to make this shit.

I've done this for years:

1. Vacuum with the beater brush
2. Spray spots with a 25/75 warm water and Woolite mix.
3. Wipe with microfiber towel that is wetted and wrung out from a two gallon bucket of warm water + 1 rock glass of Woolite.

So far, no damage to the cloth and i never drank out of the wrong glass either.

*edit- Quick Clean and a microfiber wiper works in between a full cleaning

I have never done Simonis - but I cleaned high quality wool Stevens, and even 'backed' cloth for years.

Good old Ivory liquid and hot water - I used a complexion brush to gently scrub the cloth.
Followed with a clear water rinse wiping with a wet, then dry towel.

On the un-backed cloth it would be tighter the next day and so clean, many customers
thought I had installed new cloth.

A fan blowing overnight helped the drying process.

BTW - this had a lot to do with abandoning plaster of paris in favor of beeswax for filling joint seams.

I would not expect Simonis to be much different, but I have never tried it.

I would think the cobra would know.

ps - while you're at it, you can use the same supplies to clean the balls.

What RKC told me

First brush an vacuum the table then put a cap full of Woolite in a couple gallons of hot water. Drop a white micro fleece rag in it and ring it out good. Then wipe the table down rinsing cloth as needed. Works well on my Simonis 860 HR cloth. I have done this 3 times in the last 15 months with good results on my 9' table.
